A (decent) proposal

I wouldn't risk the hot air balloon. I bought a hot air balloon trip for my wife as a birthday present, it took two years before we managed to actually get the flight due to cancellations due to weather and us not being able to make it.
However I would recommend going on a hot air balloon trip one day, it's a wonderful experience and not at all scary. It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0 -
How about a nice day togeth erin London? That gives you lots of options. Champagne trip on the London Eye, afternoon tea at the Ritz, etc. Should easily be able to explain away a nice day out together and plenty of different activities you could do before the biggy so not to arouse her suspicions.hey there's no money but we couldn't be happier if we tried
£2 coin pot - £92!0 -

you could take her to antwerp to get a nice ring - i'm a soppy cow and despite being a bad movie, i loved the bit in sweet home alabama where he takes her to tiffanys (you could pick any major shop in antwerp) and says pick whatever ring you want.

ok.. I'm more convinced now that with our luck, the balloon would either be canceled or have a freak accident.
The Amsterdam thing was actually about the diamonds. I've been there, she's not plus I know there's a big diamond trade there and lots of other things to do. I'm gonna be looking at £5K in diamond so obviously, if we can get bigger/better abroad that would be a major bonus. I would be a little worried spending that much with a diamond dealer I didn't know or trust.
I'm just not sure Amsterdam is that romantic. She really wants to go to Las vegas and see Celine Dion, but thats beyond my budget and time constraints. Plus I can't stand that canadian woman0 -
Hi
Good luck, whatever you decide will be perfect and right for you both......and congratulations.
You could even stay at home and plan a "her day", tell her you will do anything she fancies, stay in, go out, do DIY, absolutely anything that she wants to do. At the end of the day you could cosy on down to watch a film, (the bubbly on standby - hidden) and the film could be about "her day" (you could make her a video diary type thing) you will know what she wants so can tell her that you have done this and that today, for her, because you love her. Go on to say that because she has had everything that she wants today: is because you love her blah blah blah, you have a little favour to ask in return for your generosity, ask her to marry you? You will both be watching it together, but then you could get down on one knee, in real life!
OR
You could jump on a plane for the day, (a short haul flight). The destination need not be important as you could ask the pilot to make an announcement i.e "we are crossing over ......and X, X wants to know if you will marry him?"
(My friend had this happen to her on a flight to Australia)
Good luck.:happyhear We are not put on this earth for ourselves, but are placed here for each other.
If you are there always for others, then in time of need, someone will be there for you.

You can even speak to the people in your cinema and they can be bribed into letting you put a message up before the film with a picture asking her if she'll marry you
Or tell her you're taking her away for the day because it's so rare etc and go and do lots of stuff together then dinner at the hotel and propose in the morning... (can you tell I like that idea?) you can even arrange with the staff to have Bucks fizz delivered with breakfastand then tell her you're off to go shopping for the ring
either in UK or Europe if you prefer

I'm still thinking. She's out tonight so I can browse the net for ideas. Here's some info on her though...
a) She hates mornings and tends to sleep till 10.30 given the chance
b) she hates being the centre of attention (no public declarations of love)
c) She doesn't like the cinema
d) i've never known her go for a beauty treatment other than getting her legs waxed (she's pretty enough already....)
Sorry specialK, i'm old-skool romantic, not new age 'make you a picture album' romantic. I want to be her James Bond for the day, to do something that I never plan to do again, something (that appears) spontaneous and expensive and grand. But thanks for the help!0 -
Ringo,
sounds like we have very similar ladies. I know the balloon idea or spa would be a no no for mine. Like you my lovely lady isnt a mega girly girl.
I am thinking of a nice evening in a nice hotel, not to posh though she wouldnt like that, and a walk by the sea or something.
My budget is less than yours, but I will deffo keep an eye on your thread also for ideas.
Best of luck mate.0 -
My perfect proposal would be at sunset on the beach/up a mountain, something like that.
Could you get to the seaside?0 -
May do something like this myself one day but not got around to it yet...............
Anyway, heres what a few people at work have done. One took his other half away for a weekend - nothing out of the ordinary, just a nice romantic weekend so she did not suspect anything. They went to cornwall, and then visited the eden project. He placed her ring in amongst some plants and then said he had seen something in there so got her to investigate and find the ring!
Another Girl from work had a surprise weekend away, but the best bit was her BF called us up at work without her knowing and aranged for her to have a couple of days off, but she knew nothing. He packed a bag for her, and then let her go to work as normal. When she got to work he was there waiting and whisked her off to barcelona where he popped the question.
I like the London eye thing - they do champagne trips where you can have a whole pod to yourself.
How about one of those messages tied behind a plane?0
