A (decent) proposal

The decision has been made. Florence, here we come.
Dammit, decision changed0 -
One of my female friend who is married said she would of love to have a great day out and in the evening/at night have fireworks to spell out her name with "Will You Marry Me". Now I think that is a great idea for I need it in the future0

Right... first off, i've an admission. I am the worlds least decisive person. My mind flitters from idea to idea.
My new idea is a proposal in London (we live on the outskirts) after going to see the new production of Fiddler on the roof. We love the film to bits and haven't seen it on stage before. We could have dinner in town, followed by the show and stay in a hotel afterwards. I could then propose in the private of our hotel room
However great an idea of going to Florence is, it would be a nightmare to organise her going abroad for 2 nights without telling her, her friends or her family beforehand.
Aggh...! this is sooo annoying, I can't decide what to organise0 -

could you organise with the hotel to go into your room while your out (hide your knickers/valuables) or let a trusted friend in and sprinkle flower petals, have champagne waiting on ice, candles (if you're allowed them in hotel rooms) and a CD playing romantic music.... so its all nice and romantic when you get back and an element of surprise too?
i like the london idea as there's no hassle of flights etc.why be a song, when you can be a symphony?0 -
OBviously you know your lasdy best but I know someone telling me to pack a bag but not telling me where I was going, would drive me MAD! I'd hate it! What to pack? What to wear? If you're going to a posh place for dinner does she need evening wear and heels and make-up? Are you going to a country hotel where she'll need walking shoes and jumpers and a waterproof coat? Will she be in swimwear? Does she need to wax?
I don't know if your lady is that kind of woman but just a warning that if she doens't have the right clothes with her for the type of night/weekend away then she may feel uncomfortable and grumpy.0 -
ringo - i highly recommend city inn westminister. it aint cheap, but its a top, top hotel!
do you think a balcony would be appreciated? and you could propose with the city as your backdrop?know thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0 -
Good recommendation.. i've stayed in the City Inn Bristol.. really nice hotel. Its so annoying, i stay in fancy hotels all the time for work and never think about the cost (I practically lived in the Dublin Conrad Hilton for 3 months).
I've been a bit spoiled, I had a free night in the Waldorf Hilton last year (with my hilton points), nicest hotel room i've ever had.
I like the balcony idea0 -
Doh, she's found a link on my work laptop about wedding proposals, and I just erm, read her email to a friend saying she thinks she's about to be proposed to..0

Thats not a problem. No biggie, she knows it going to happen but not when.

I've just been away on a short trip with b/f and we went to Venice then went on the overnight train (first class about £100 each) to Vienna for a few days. Very romantic to leave Venice after a day there, getting on a train and wake up in Vienna travelling through Alps. You can order food on there and English speaking train hostess who was very helpful. Toilet and Shower at end of first class carriage and only about 8 cabins in first class carriage. If you go to the Prata Park in Vienna and on the Ferris Wheel, you can even hire your own thing - cabin?? on the wheel (I have the brochure somewhere with the website) where they will help you arrange a posh meal in cabin/marriage proposals.
My b/f planned most of the trip and I'm not really a girly girl but enjoyed exploring Venice/Vienna, it can be as romantic as you want. PM me if you need more info and I will try and root it out, but you should be able to do it within budget easily. The £200 train doubled up as a journey and overnight accommodation and after dreading it, I thought it was dead romantic (even though you are in bunk beds(!), think James Bond in the 'Living Daylights'.
Hope this helps!!0
