My OH tried his best to be romanic... took a romantic walk down the prom and asked my by the sea at sunset. Sadly, it was February, freezing cold, blowing a gale and absolutely chucking it down!!! Still said yes though :rotfl:

Get yourselves up to Yorkshire, take a walk on the Haworth moors like the lovestruck Cathy and Heathcliffe from Wuthering Heights and do it there.

Don't see the point anymore in offering advice to people who only want to be agreed with...

Everything belfastgirl has said is good advice, apart from the last bit.... A 2 litre bottle of Strongbow is the way to a girls heart, forget the champers !! LOL !! (ok ok, so maybe it's only me...!) It's only around £3.09 a bottle in Tesco at the mo !!! :rotfl:

Nope its me aswell! Dont agree with strongbow though, nothing beats a good scrumpy!!

Somewhere special to you will be best :) My dream place for my boyfriend to propose (I can dream) would be at the front of block 9 at Home park (PAFC ground). Why? We met there and also had our first date there. Well we watched the game and then went out for dinner. Since then weve never missed a home game and have been to alot of away games. And this year were going on the pre season tour with the team. Basically its brought us together and that means alot to me. Its a special place and Id love for him to do it there (like I said, I can dream!!!)

    Keep us updated though!

Thanks for all the replies guys, please keep them coming.

Trying to think of something romantic is difficult, as my G/F doesnt like to be the center of attention, she is a little shy. Also I will get a ring, but not the real one as she will need to choose it. She doesnt really wear jewlerry and my attempts to buy things in the past have not been most successful, so if she is going to wear something the rest of her life it needs to be right.

This things are so difficult, I know its all about being personal to us, but I also would like it to be nice and memorable, the whole event.

Oh these things are difficult, need to ask her old man too yet.

Peobably need to ask her first, then her father.

Not normally done the opposite way round these days:p

Any hot air balloon flights round your way?

They are amazingly peaceful, and very special. Apart from the pilot you could be the only ones in the basket.

And,traditionally, you are meant to have champagne after you land the first time to celebrate warm winds and soft landings:beer:

I know the hot air balloon would be a bad idea, shes not a big flying fan.
Also I thought its best to ask the father first as a sign of respect.

A friend did this and it went down very well with his girl.

How about renting a cottage for the week/weekend - try the Landmark Trust they have some fantastic places completely isolated and romantic which sleep just 2, you'll have to invest in a copy of their handbook however as details are not available on line.

Um, well you know the girl and her family better than us, but I'd probably have swung for my dh if he'd asked my father first if we could get married.
