I could not believe my eyes yesterday when I went into a store yesterday and they were selling empty jam jars for 99p. This must be the oppositer of money saving. Just think what you could do with the contents of a jar of jam or marmalade etc which costs less than 99p and then have an empty jar! What do you think

I buy this one in either the Asda or Tesco mixed value jam, my DS2 love jam sarnies, I also used to make Jam rolly poly - but forgot how to make it gggrrrr, Its just a basic suet mix with jam is isnt it? lol I also make my own flavoured yogurt with the jam, just buy the natural yogurt add a tiny bit sugar if needed and jam for flavour....sorry going right of topic hereGrocery Challenge. £400. - £35.22 + £19.80 + £109.01 = £164.03
Other spends (Clothes Luxuries etc)£11.97 + £1.19 + £7.36 + £69.00 + £38.50 + £5.50 + £23.00 +£2.00 = £158.52:shocked::sad:0 -
This sort of thing really get's my goat! Can't believe that people buy that sort of thing for such a silly price! We make all our jams and chutneys for the year and if we need jars, just ask friends and family, or go to a recycle centre and you'll inevitably find some in the bags on the floor or being dropped off by others. Why pay 99p fir a jam jar????0

I know I couldn't believe it either. It made me feel like going up to the assistant or ask for the manager and say what do you think you are doing encouraging people to spend their hard earned cash on things which are so obviously unneccessary. What about all that extra glass that will have to be recycled!! But however I suppose its up to everybody what they spend their money on and I wouldnt buy them if they were 10p !!!0

that takes the biscuits really. i bet someone buys them tho.
i have loads and loads of jam jar/syrup/honey etc etc.i keep them all. i only , even if i buy sweet and sour sauce. if i get too many then i offer them on free cycle. last year i made only 1 jar of jam . (first attempt).
but this year i am using my jam jars and painting them and putting tea lights in for garden decorating.0 -
I needed some jam jars last year when I made chutney (we didn't have any, having just moved house we weren't going to bother moving jam jars around the place so all we had had been recycled).
The cheapest option I could find was the tescos value jam. I must confess the jam went in the bin, I must be a jam snob, but much cheaper than buying jars at lakeland or similar and I only needed 3 or 4.0 -
