www.color-lites.co.uk - you can buy jars on there - new - for 30p.
Don't know if it's just me but this link doesn't work!:(Oh dear, here we go again.0 -
I was just about to bulk-buy new jars online when I caught sight of this thread! I can't believe I'd never thought of buying cheap jarred produce solely for the packaging
. I'm off to Asda to see what I can find! Probably avoid strong-flavoured stuff though otherwise I might need to spend £ on replacement lids?!
I've always bought new when making chutneys etc for Christmas presents. I probably still will - but ask for the empties to be returned (my existing supply got 'lost' in the recent house-move)!
I bought Douwe Egberts coffee for ages because the jars come with lovely airtight plastic stoppers which are brilliant for storing couscous/beans etc in.
Anyone got any tips for removing all the label's glue from the jar?0 -

If they are the same as the ones I bought 5-6 years ago, then they are really nice and have attracive lids too.
I had a need at the time to get a lot of jars together quickly when my Dad's tree went mad and produced so many plums it weighed down the branches. We had a serious glut of plums which I had never seen before or since. Anyway I am not overly keen on Plum jam, but I do like chutney for Curries etc. I figured the plums would make a lovely spicy alternative to expensive Mango Chutney - and they did.
I think we got around 25-30 jars in the end, Lakeland rocks.0 -

When I was at University (30 years ago  ) the on campus Spar shop had 'Pancake Mix - just add milk and eggs'.:rotfl: . It was right next to the flour.:D
We still sell this where I work, and a yorkshire pudding one thats the same!!! Its about 89p and a small bag of plain happy shopper flour is next to it on the shelf for 29p!!!
Ohh god I could list the stupid things we sell at a stupid price, and Im mostly dumb enough to buy it as its just opposite where I live...:o
Has gone to play on her own little world for a bit..... but its ok the voices in her head came too so she's not alone0 -
As to the jam jars eek at 99p, the school my little one goes to does a weird raffle where kids decorate jam jars and fill them with sweets/mini toys or similar for the xmas fair... maybe I should clean up some jars and put them in the shop nearer the time and see if anyone is daft enough!!!

Oh dear! we have thrown loads of clean jars and lids away this week, we had planned to make jams and chutneys, but it just wasn`t possible this year. I felt bad about it but just didn`t know anyone who would want them. :-(The more I see of men, the more I love dogs - Madame de Sevigne0

As soon as people know you're on the look out for empty jars, I'm sure they'll save them for you. My mum & m-in-law are brilliant for this. I make jams, marmalade, chutney, pickles, etc, and I never run out of jars. In fact, I sometimes have to tell them I can't fit any more jars in my cupboard and then they look really crestfallen because they've probably already got 2 carrier bags full outside in the boot!2025's challenges: 1) To fill our 10 Savings Pots to their healthiest level ever
