Hello all, it's been a while since I posted although have been doing bits and bobs here and there. We made some major changes to DDs room, got rid of old shelves and put in floor to ceiling bookcases instead as she was short of places for her books. Her old wardrobe was rickety, but doors were fine so we reused doors and shelves and just bought a new frame. It has been much better installed this time so should last better. We also managed to fit in a little desk so she now has space in her room to do her art - and her homework. It has gone from proper child's room to pre-teen room, and she loves it. Despite her getting rid of even more stuff, she still has more things than we can house though, so there is more sorting to be done. Bless her, she is brilliant at decluttering but as we have a massive family she does get given loads of things.

My main problem at the moment is I'm not very good at completion. I have piles of 'stuff' that move from room to room, half finished jobs that turn into jobs that need to be redone. This Easter hols I would like to focus the mind by completing the following 10 half-done jobs:
    1. Bag up DDs to go pile on the landing and give to charity
    2. Buy a third drawer for DDs wardrobe and fit so she has enough space for jumpers
    3. Sell or get rid of rocking moses basket
    4. Sell or get rid of DDs old bike
    5. Give away old rolls of wallpaper to charity
    6. Bag up DS old too small clothes and store away
    7. Take old video/dvd player to recycling depot (already tried to freecycle it)
    8. Sell or charity DDs old clothes
    9. List sofa cover for sale
    10. Give old dolls house to charity

If I get these things done I will be pleased as feel they are hanging over me, so to speak.

With the postage changes, is it worth selling clothes on ebay any more?

I was wondering this too last week, but I'm going to start using Collect+ for items too big for small parcels with Royal Mail. Their prices start at £3.99, better than £5.20 for RM.

If you package the clothes so the parcel is no more than 45cm x 35cm x 8cm up to 1Kg then it's only £2.60 or £3.70 for recorded.

Try this link and have a read through on the ebay thread here. Some things I'm still going to use RM for but I'll see how Collect+ goes. It does mean taking the item to a shop near me, but I suppose I'd had to have gone to the post office anyway :)

Thanks purplevamp, am clearly going to have to play around with parcelling things up and getting them weighed/measured before listing!

Have been working on number 1 on my list - the pile of things in the hallway from DDs room. Took a bin liner of DDs toys and a cushion to charity yesterday, have recycled another bin liners worth, and have another bag to take to charity tomorrow. Listed some old toys on gumtree, need to upload photo. Still more to do but landing looking a lot better.

Also cleared guest room so mum could come and stay at last minute, and DD sorted through the bags of stuff in her room - only one box left, phew!

that's how I 'declutter' too. I've spent this afternoon tackling existing piles before allowing myself to make new ones. Pile of things for the charity shop is growing

Had a HUUUUGE sack of clothes picked up from Cash 4 Clothes yesterday...
Am trying to sort through and clean the conservatory at the mo, so bits going from there - but a table that was being chucked out by neighbours has come IN - we have family staying at the weekend so there will be 13 of us :eek::eek: so the table will come in handy to eat at (we will have to get rid of it when they go!!)

So house is going to be super-duper cluttered with people for a few days :D won't be able to concentrate on any more decluttering until the kids go back to school.
