Had a HUUUUGE sack of clothes picked up from Cash 4 Clothes yesterday.....

I use a local place because it is quick and convenient. £19.80 for sorting out 3 wardrobes isn't exactly NMW but worth it ;)

Off to check over the cds and dvds for Zapper today :D.

    Hello fellow declutter ers
I have not been in here for a few days as I have now been around the whole house sorting out and decluttering our unloved items.
I still manage to find the odd corner I have missed. This morning it was 4 drawers in the conservetory. I fetched the bin and tossed a few bits.Lots of free energy saving light bulbs stored in them from companies were giving them away free. Will keep them.
The secret to success is making very small, yet constant changes.:)

at home decluttered a drawer, only a few papers and insructions for things we no longer have but better out than in.

a vase of sad looking daffs has also been dclutered to the compost bag

    Hello everyone,

The decluttering has started in earnest in the Moorhen nest.

I have taken one big bag of books and two bags of clothes to the charity shop (fortunately we live about 5 mins walk from quite a few charity shops so once things are packed up ready then they can go before I have time to change my mind).

DD1 is going to declutter her clothes this afternoon and DS has said that I can go through his clothes with him next week.

Off to sort the kitchen cupboards.

    Happy decluttering everyone.:):)

:T Well done to you all for the decluttering you have done.

I am now back from our holiday, we had a lovely time. We came back on Wednesday night and since then we have achieved:
    * All washing done, ironed and put away.
    * Spent 30 minutes in the garden collecting all spare branches and twigs that have fallen off the trees. Managed to fill a whole basket with kindlings.
    * Bathroom cleaned and all mirrors cleaned.
    * OH has tidied up 50% of the utility room.
    * A couple of tealights have been used up and thrown away.

The plan for tomorow is to make muffins and get myself ready for starting my new job on Monday.
No toiletries challenge, started 18/1/2010 - Putting £1 in my savings jar for every item that I use up. Pot 1 to 4 = £261. Pot 5=£23
    Boots points:£39.21. Extra money in 2012:£674.59. In 2013 £603.48. 2014: £85. 2015: £0 :j

Hi, sounds like you have come back refreshed from your holiday and ready to get on with decluttering, Well done !:T and Congratulations on your new job.
  • Hello everyone, just been on a quick catch up of all your progress and it looks like it's been a busy week great work all.

Well it's been quite a productive week for me too, have:

Spring cleaned boys' bedroom and then our bedroom, moved all furniture and given thorough hoover/dust and sorted clothes decluttered ready for clothing bank or CS (just need DH to go through his).

Spring cleaned living room so tidy and almost clutter free (just waiting for room of stuff to be sorted this week so there's space for the final few bits) but at least clean and organised.

As there has finally been a good dry outside I've been able to empty the washing basket and am now doing the winter coats/ski trousers as hopefully(!) we won't need them anymore and they can go away.

Kids at MIL's for sleepover yesterday & today so we have been able to completely sort out the garage (double size which has been converted by a previous owner to a 'studio'/storage) and it is now totally organised and stuff easily accessible. Lots of boxes emptied and the contents sorted. Anything I can sell is now organised on some previously empty shelves, few bits ready for CS and we've taken a car load of RC/rubbish taken to the recycling centre. Rest of tools/garden furniture (wooden, foldable) etc all in the right place and ready when needed.

On a bit of a roll so also brought down all the boxes and bits from loft. Sorted out and repacked anything to go back up there into plastic storage boxes, only 2 boxes, some things gone to the selling shelves in the garage, some to the hall cupboard ready for use, a load of games and bits which the boys can now play with will go into storage boxes in the garage so easily accessible, few more bits for the CS and lots of boxes flattened and rubbish bagged ready for another trip to the recycling centre today.

A long but really productive day yesterday and I am so pleased we have finally got these done properly. The garage now has loads of space and we know where everything is and the loft is almost empty and both are junk free.

My main aim for this week is to get the room of stuff sorted and reorganise the things which are to be sold, and get rid anything which is recycling/CS/junk.

Sorry for the long post, just really chuffed to have got the big tasks completed :j

I'm not a regular here - I'm probably too much of a hoarder and discouraged by others' determination - but, today I am decluttering as I'm having the house painted this week.

So, working on the downstairs, having already emptied books/CD and DVDs and taken a box to charity. Now I'm in the other room, sorting out useless electronic stuff - so far have found a tablet and laptop that don't work and heaps of cables (still to be sorted through). No idea what some of it is really (That's the joy of having had teenagers who have since left home). And I'm sure there are some old mobiles here too, which I'll see if I can recycle.

I'm not ebaying stuff but so far this weekend have taken random items to charity shop and freecycled some Dulux match pots and a Call of Duty Poster. The rest will go to the recycling.
