A bit of a day off decluttering today, OH and I have been out. IN's some new and much needed underwear for me and a c.s. find of a nice glass vase which will hold one of my orchid plants.

Kitchen still being kept spick and span, sitting room also looking good, dining area needs sorting and my bedroom is a tip. Bathroom is the next target as it won't take long and will give me more incentive to carry on. OH has started painting the kitchen.

All post and the loose stuff in newspapers and subscribed magazines is being dealt with as soon as it lands in the house. Think I need to buy a Onesie for the dog, I love her to bits, but no matter how much she is brushed, she still sheds loads of hair, I keep threatening her with a kennel in the garden!

We've ventured into the loft to bring down a few more things.

Some boxes and junk will go to recycling and the tip.

Some things will go to eBay

We've got down the photographic slides. We are going to buy a little device that will transfer them on to a memory card, and then the idea is to get rid of the slides.

We've also brought down the cinefilms my husband took in the 70's. We are going to get those transfered on to DVD. That might take time, as it's quite expensive, might be one a month.

So with the stuff I've already got ready for Ebaying, the stuff I'm eBaying for my friend and today's haul, everything looks really cluttered again.

I'll be working my way through this lot before I go into the loft again, that is certain.

Don't get rid of the slides, in all probability they'll out last any electronic format you transfer them into or the media holding them.

Colour slides are an incredible stable way of storing images, 100 years plus with probably very little loss of colour.

When you and I have snuffed it, those slides will still be usable and might well be future historical 'documents'.
  • Didn't do any decluttering today as such. We're having a new carpet fit on the stairs on Tuesday so I've been cleaning and glossing.

Decluttered the AP order into the cupboards, packaging in container waiting cardboard r.c. run, junk mail and newspaper "extras" in r.c. bin. Sitting room and kitchen tidy, floor swept and OH busy painting, bathroom half completed. IN's of Easter egg for OH and some toffee for me will be decluttered over the next couple of days:D

Don't worry, when I say get rid of, I didn't mean taking them to the tip, I was thinking of putting them on eBay, as there is a market for slides already.

However, I'm not sure how I'd feel about selling images of loved ones, so I think we will transfer them on to the memory card so we can view them, and put the originals back in the loft. They don't take up much room and can be stored with the rest of the photos

Feeling a bit fed up with the house at the mo... Got rid of about 20 items of clothing and junk from utility room today ... Stuff seems to be reappearing in my recently decluttered kitchen and its starting to drive me crazy!!! I feel like taking everything out of the house and moving only necessary stuff back in ... Putting laundry away tonight and counted 9 coats in Dd1's wardrobe! Horrified! Ashamed too as I bought most of them. Complete waste if money as she wears the same 2 due to freezing weather! At least I can put a couple away for dd2 . I will not buy another coat until 2014.

A bit of decluttering/Spring cleaning done over last few days. More not needed paperwork cleared off side in kitchen, still a way to go, I have a large letter rack with drawer under which still needs a sort and a couple of baskets with stuff in. I am being quite ruthless. Finished wiping tops of kitchen cupboards, started wiping down tiles and wallpaper (it's washable), amazed at how dirty cloths are getting. Using my Stardr*ps.

Washing basket and ironing basket completely decluttered and all put away, just one load to go though WM once DS and DD in bed, we are all up watching Shrek 3. We have decided to all make a start on our Easter eggs :D.

Got my grocery shop done this morning, reported on that thread, made some leek and potato soup, ordered new school trousers for DD from Mr Asd*, she is growing fast. Had a little snooze on sofa this afternoon while DS was at footy with his Dad and DD was watching her Tracy Beaker DVD, must be getting to that age :). I must say I wish I had time for such snoozes more often, maybe when my house is streamlined, clean and decluttered to within an inch of its life...

We lose an hour's sleep tonight!

    :easter: to all. Guineapigsqueaks x

    Keep Smiling :)

Morning all, Happy easter. I had a great de-cluttering day yesterday. I finally got rid of all the rubbish behind the sofa - basically because I cant see it... it isnt there.... and now it isnt REALLY there :) upteen trips to the recycle bin etc. Very satisfying. Going to be a sort through of my books/DVDs and try and sell some on ebay - I am a book worm and have them everywhere. I am going on a holiday to NZ in May and have been saving for the book fair which happens there all year and basically need some space :)
