Even though my sons had a sleepover at Grandma's last night, I set my alarm for 7am for the first time in weeks (hospital days aside), just to see how I get on with the early starts. I've increased some medication over the Christmas break, with the effect that I've not been waking naturally til 9. My 'menfolk' seem happy to lie in bed til I call them for breakfast when there's no work, school or gifts to get up for!
Although school doesn't start til tomorrow, I've got my first committee meeting as secretary at 10am (local WI, where I'm twenty years younger than the next person and forty years younger than most). Organisational skills and the ability to follow a meeting really suffered with my MS, perhaps partly down to different drugs I've taken for the pain. So doing this is a personal challenge.
I've got the bones of a fortnight's meal planner done. Today I need to write up my plan for the week, including set menus and school routines. (One son is preoccupied by the "who and when?" of school runs, so having it written on the fridge saves my sanity when I'm getting breakfast for everyone.)
    So:
    Minutes for meeting,
    Week planner,
2 loads of washing, dried & ironed
Drop things off at charity shop,
    Collect dry cleaning
See how much football kit I can muster for tomorrow (I'm sure one son left pe kit at school last term)
    Pick sons up from Grandma's
Cook shepherd's pie, using oven to do a batch of cakes
Make sure sons have their school bags packed with everything they need, plus football kit.
And make sure I have a 'siesta' early afternoon, which is essential if I'm to make it through the afternoon and evening without seriously damaging relationships!

I looking forward to getting to 'know' you all and being inspired by your progress. I added a couple of things to my long term lot do list after catching up on posts last night. Sorry to waffle on today - I shall be more concise now I've given you a flavour of my life!
  • Morning all - just nipping on to say we've caught the mouse :-) it is now living in a field far from here. Will get DH to have a look at outside of house to see how it may have got in. I've reset the trap just in case there is a mate!

Last day of the hols today. I've decided to start writing weekly lists rather than daily ones as I get too panicked when running out of time in the day.

    Hi Everyone

Hope its ok if i join

Starting back to school and work tomorrow and i really need to get back into some routine, its took a battering over the last 2 1/2 weeks. No early starts, the kids have been in pj's for many more hours than they've been dressed and to top it all im now working a 5 days week. Ive always worked 3 to 4 days and my wednesday would be the day that I would do all the ironing, laundry, bathroom cleaning, changing beds etc, all the grotty jobs so now i need to come up with a plan to fit them all in at different times. My jobs for today are
    • Do all ironing
    • Get to the bottom of the laundry basket
    • Clean bathroom
    • Make sure 4 days of uniforms for each dd is ready to go
    • Pay bills (online)
    • Sort out Direct debits (also online)
    • Meal plan
    • Play freezer tetris (its overflowing)
    • Sort out breakfast club money, its only 60p a day but trying to find the right change every morning is a nightmare, i'm always struggling to find change so all over Christmas i've been saving my 20 and 10 pence peices.
I really hope that's everything,Oh yes makes dinner as well for tonight for after swimming lessons.

Hello, Arriving to the discussion a few days late, but, Can I join this thread? I've got to organise myself, declutter the house (an ongoing project), manage my boy and manage my husband's UK affairs while he is working abroad (he is guardian of his sick elderly father). I got a 2013 Organiser with five columns (a generic one) but I got some inexpensive stickers from Ebay to personalise it.

We have a mouse (mice?!) too. Luckily I leave a few doors down from a pest controller, so I went and bought some stuff from him. He told me a mouse can get thru a gap of 7mm, which is the size of a ballpoint pen. Favourite areas for coming in is near the pipework into the house. Hope you've seen the last of them.xx

hmmm - question for all slimming mummies.............where do you weigh yourself???

I have just weighed myself in 4 rooms..... I got:
    22kg (bedroom - i like this one - carpet)
    48kg (landing - carepet)
67kg (sons bedroom - laminate floor)
    69kg. (bathroom - lino)
    68kg (kitchen - laminate floor).

My instinct is to use the bathroom every time.
