Mums get organised in 2013

OMG - end of the world - my GHD straightners (only 6 months old) died this morning :mad:. Had to go to work with hairdryer straigtened hair :eek: which was not as easy as the hairdresser makes it look!
Anyway - the hunt for the receipt to send them back has made me realise how out of control our paperwork/receipts are. Looks like another great job for the weekend. I have a great file for all the bills, but just getting them into the file is the trick!
Any good ideas for organising the paperwork on a day to day basis?:beer:Sealed Pot no 20110 -
thank you to the poster who mentioned the declutter calender - I've downloaded it and will ensure it is in my weekly tasks from now on.I've just found 'evidence' that we have a mouse lurking behind the kitchen cupboards so all plans for today have been put on hold. DH has just pulled all the kickboards out whilst I pull everything out of the cupboard - only pots and pans as all others are sealed - and get it all washed. Our killer cats are patrolling the kitchen!
I would say my usual "eeeekkkk" but that would probably be the wrong word (sorry)
hope you catch him.loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -

And here is my new meal planner
Cheapo frame from ikea, blank planner inside the frame and a drywipe marker :-) I cannibalised some fridge poetry to stick it to the fridge. Also we had home made lasagne for tea and I managed to stop OH eating the leftovers so I have food for kids tea on Monday ready made.
New list tomorrow, but now I HAVE TO GO FILE STUFF! Aaarrghh!

Hi do you know what paint you have to use for a mural? I want to do one but have no idea where to start or if my landlord will allow itHe let me decorate the rooms but would a mural be different?Does it depend on the paint used?
I am in awe over how organised you all are.I cannot organise anything and feel life getting crazy and cluttered.0 -
I think part of it is that we AREN'T organised, but by writing lists on here and having some accountability, it makes us do things and stay organised. Or that might just be me, but I find logging on and checking my list and crossing things off to be very motivating. My OH is in awe at how organised I've been this week!
Maybe it's just me, though... I am genuinely not organised at all when left to my own devices!0 -

I think it is because you can make lists you seem so organised to me. I do not think I would know where to start with one.I just look at things I need to do and wonder and feel deflated:o0 -
I agree with mysk, posting here motivates you to be more organised and reporting back means reporting failure as well as success. Also, it is still early days - some of us may stray by the wayside before we finish the ongoing task of becoming organised and decluttered.
My day has been ok so far. I have
* posted cross stitch pattern to Poohspals
* bought toilet rolls - essential when we only had two left in the house!
* put washer on
* put dryer on twice
* loaded and put dishwasher on
* emptied dishwasher
* decluttered stair basket - it was really shameful. There were loads of old receipts, several odd bits of paper for recycling, £2 coin, a few old CDs (might listen to them later
), 3 packs of fabric pens for Brownies, a pack of Christmas cards (bought last year), odd tissues, three books, several pieces of ribbon, one long roll of ribbon, a tin of buttons, and a bag containing a pair of wooden clogs, a Canadian guiding magazine, a small pair of castanets, several pictures of inspirational women from an old guiding project, and a pack of paper clips! I didn't know the basket would hold so much!
* decluttered stairs (more junk)
* emptied four shopping bags from yesterday and put away
* decluttered a bag of guiding stuff that had found its way into the bathroom
* bought a nail care set from Boots, for my niece but from my mum
* put away four packs of sweets that I found
I even managed to avoid an argument with my ex. He sees the lads every Saturday, but always takes his daughter's side and never supports our son. Tonight she was pulling faces at the youngest, and I knows he is hard work anyway. Youngest asked dad to stop her from pulling faces. It was upsetting him, and dad just shouted 'He's got a right problem, he has!', about our son. I know pulling faces doesn't seem much, but she really upsets him and she winds him up every week. My son is supposed to put up with anything from her. So then, when he came into the house, I had tears to deal with - why does dad love her more than him? I just closed te door before my ex could say anything else.
Tonight I intend to write up a funding bid for our disability group, finish reading reviews on trip advisor, and put the washer on again. The reviews are about the Manor House Hotel and Ashbury Hotel in Okehampton - plenty for the kids to do, craft sessions and spa treatments for me, full board. Sounds great, but some poor reviews about the rooms and food. I can cope with cramped rooms, but not poor food. Oh decisions, decisions...........
