  • Hi everyone,

Can I join in please? I had a 6month old DD and am returning to work soon, so need all the tips I can get!

I would like to get involved too please. Our DD is 8 months old and I have just gone back to work so I'm almost in the same boat as you Pinkphoenix. Hope you're feeling ok about going back? x

  • So today didn't go as planned, lol.

Woke up to find OH had in fact not gone to work as was feeling poorly sick so spent morning keeping him company on the sofa.

Then went midwife, which found my BP was raised and so was whisked off to hospital where I've spent the day being poked, monitored and having lots of tests.

Come 7pm they say I'm fine and can go home, lol. Took them long enough to come to that decision! So popped into my mums to update her, got fed (yay free food! lol) and OH fell asleep in front of the log fire.

Just got home and tucked him up in bed dosed to the hills with various drugs and now I can relax! :)

Has made me realise that I REALLY need to pack my hospital bag as for a while they were talking about induction today and I so wouldn't be ready!!!

poohspals - I dread to think what some of the families at our school send in!!! They sort the stuff to sell, send abroad, charity shops and recycling. I'm sure the jeans would be used for recycling. xx
Need to sort my life out! :T

I hope you are feeling better peanut and relaxing! Yes do pack it, the exact thing happened to me and I had to go home and pack mine when they decided to induce me at 37 weeks. I found it very hard to completely relax but hope you take the chance to put your feet up and chill out - how long do you have left? xx

Mysk girl - thanks for the storage tip. I think I may get a couple of those storage bins, one for wrapping paper and another for umbrellas.

Island Mum/pinkphoenix - I'm due back at work at end of the month (am swapping my maternity leave with OH).

I have made some progress on my to do list, although my efforts to go to the tip where thwarted by a burst watermain near the recycling centre. I did however, take a load of clothes to the clothes recycling bank and told off a guy who was stealing the bags!!!

I also bought and sent an address book to my friend. My problem is that i can be organised to a certain extent, but never follow through. For example, I bought my friends son an Xmas present from the Saisnbury's toy sale, but never managed to send it off. I'm pleased I was able to follow this through and want to continue following through with being organised.

QUick tip - I know this isn't very MSE< but I bought a chicken to roast and put it is a disposable foil container, which I threw away (well, recycled) which meant there was less washing up. I have also done a lasagne in one.
  • Island mum - 2 weeks :)

Mysk - Forgot to say, love the basket :)

That's nice that you can do that - we don't even have statuarty maternity or paternity leave over here (it's all up to your employers) so my husband feels quite hard done by I think. A bit off topic *apologies* but how are you feeling about going back? I really struggled when I went back to work :A

An an organisation note I've started having a major clear out of recipe books (I'm hooked) and DVDs. Then I'm moving on to clothes so hoping for a free listing weekend on eBay soon :rotfl:

well i didn't get my spag bol done so tomorrow is batch cook day (if I can find enough tubs).

Cook up some mince and freeze into portions so I can have spag bol or shepherds pie with it.

slow cook the beef .... might have that tomorrow for tea ... fancy casserole and dumplings... and freeze any leftovers.

also going to make banana bread and butter pudding as the bananas and bread are decidedly past their best. not made it before so if anyone has a tried and tested recepie I am open to suggestions
loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:
