I had some bananas once when I lived in france, and their was a tiny little lizard all dried up on the bananas. I felt quite sorry for him!

BTW WHY is the fertilised egg thing disturbing?

I find loads of things in my food because we grow herbs and bits of salad veg and have 2 hens who provide us with eggs, which they have the audacity to occasionally c**p on. They have never had !!!! (male chicken) however.

I think the article was to do with birds in asda warehouse, or it could have been the cafe with the rats, not sure.

  • I used to work for asda in their customer relations department at the Head Office in Leeds (where your wedges will have been sent to be 'analysed').

We used to deal with this sort of thing every day, and it is all very dubious. On more than one occasion I was told to make something up in a letter to a customer to make them think that it had been sent to a lab when it hadn't. It is essentially a call centre and they don't let you have any time off the 'phone to customers to reply to complaints. Therefore you have to do whatever is quickest - and sending things away is very time consuming.
Another interesting fact is that they charge their suppliers £40 for every complaint - if you accept less than that in compensation then they actually MAKE money from your complaint.
You will no doubt receive a standard letter with a gift card. Ring them up and tell them you are not happy when you do - you will be offered more. Just be nice to the person you speak to and just tell them how disappointed you are. Don't rant at them - it is soul destroying to have people shouting at you all day (that job made me finish my degree so that I didn't have to do it anymore!!)

Hope you get an apology soon jimsmum. It's hard explainin to the kiddies, whatever age.

12 yr old DD had some fried rice from a supermarket, was chucking up for 8 hours, rice, rice & more rice. She won't touch the stuff in any form now, and I don't buy chilled ready meals anymore. Well, only cheese & tomato pizza :D
