I got an e-mail from e2save asking me to call them.
When I did they said the network (Virgin) had declined my order - they werent sure why.
I cant understand why - I had 2 virgin contracts up to about 1 month ago when they expired and I didnt renew. Maybe thats why - dont know.
I guess I could call them but I am so hacked off with mobiles and contracts right now not even going to bother .......:mad:0 -
I placed my order on wednesday 2 May and the Sim arrived first thing on Thursday.
I started using my new sim right away and thought nothing of it. After a few mins on the phone a womans vioce came on in the background and said 'One min remaining'.
I thought this was strange and the next time I tried to make a call I couln't.
I then phoned Virgin who said I had been sent a 'PAY AS YOU GO SIM' and if I wanted to make any calls I had to put 'CREDIT' on. (They also said this would take up to 48 hours to respond. They also said that the phone sim comes with £5 credit on it but I didn't use the phone for long enough to use up £5.)
Yesterday I called Virgin to tel them I wanted to end the contract on their 7 day agreement. The first person I spoke to was very polite and helpful. He arranged for a supervisor to call me back and try to sort out the problem.
The supervisor said I had to call E2Save (from my land line on 0871 222 5522) who were closed at that time.
I have now been in touch with E2Save this morning to cancel my contract and they said they can't do this over the phone at this moment and that someone will call me back within 48 hours. (Which I find VERY strange!)
I am now waiting for a call that may come when I am out at work as they can't give a specific time!
Should I call my bank to stop the direct debit?
Has anyone else had the same problem?
I'm now looking at alternative phone contracts now! (Sorry Martin but this isn't as good a deal as I first thought)0 -

Virgin issue generic sim cards, they convert your sim when they receive your details from your supplier. £5 doesn't last long, how long did you use it for? You can check online for free.

Most retailers close at some point of the day, did you ask when they would be open?

I think that they are buying time to set up the contract.

Why can't they call you on your mobile, you can still receive incoming calls?
Should I call my bank to stop the direct debit?
Not without cancelling the contract first.
Has anyone else had the same problem?

I think that you are premature in jumping ship.Well life is harsh, hug me don't reject me.0 -
Have to agree with above post, its a little premature, they will send you out a new sim (this could be a very easy mistake they did by sending you the wrong sim) I ahve dealt with virgin quite a lot and what I suggest you do is hang fire, when the new sim comes give them a call and say you dont feel happy paying for the month as you have not had the service to use for a month, what you find they will do is give you the first month for free.0

Apparently quite a few rec the payg sim instead of a contract sim, I sent mine back within the 7 day cancellation period, but have still rec a direct debit and invoice from Virgin I have spoken to Virgin twice about the contract being cancelled and that OSPS have confirmed that they have rec the returned sim card. Virgin will not cancel the contract until they rec a disconnection notice from OSPS, so if they do not rec it by the 15th Virgin will deduct the payment from my account. I spoke to OSPS last on 3/5 and was told it takes up to 7 days for Virgin to rec the disconnection notice.0

Before the VIRGIN SIM deal there was an O2 one which was for a year.
This has now returned and is a better deal unles you specificly want a 6 month deal!
http://www.e2save.com/o2-mobile-phone/O2-/SIMONLY
200 minutes free + 250 free texts per month for a year.
It's a cashback deal so you MUST BE ORGANISED but it's a better one than the VIRGIN deal that Martin has mentioned on this thread!
Consider going through one of the cashback sites to save more money.
You have to be prepared to pay £30 a month but you get it all back.
With over 3 hours of calls per month you are able to save on outgoing calls on any landline phones you have.
Towards the end of the month I ring friends to use up the free minutes I have spare! I have had these deals for 4 years now with no problems!
If you would like a new phone then there is a Motorola L6 on VIRGIN free for 12 months with 50 minutes and 100 texts per month. Click on deal of the day or the link below:

Ive got my sim card (I am surprised they accepted me on credit as i am a discharged bankrupt) all seems ok so far but I am watching this forum closely as im nervous about actually getting the cashback. Only gripe so far is that when I called Virgin Customer Service I had to agree to a 10p charge to speak to them - seems a bit cheeky charging for calls to customer service dosnt it?0

Are you using the 789 number as that is free.0 -

Its only free to use the automated options - to speak to a Customer Services Rep costs a flat 10p.This space has been intentionally left blank0 -

As far as i'm aware, as explained earlier all Virgin sims are PAYG and converted. The £5 they give you is free.Well life is harsh, hug me don't reject me.0
