Well went for it and also ordered a cheap VIRGIN PAYG phone off phones4u (nokia 3220 £24.95 but appears out of stock at the moment- great back up phone) both arrived the same time.
Thanks Quentin I was confused over the £5 credit but got a text later in the day to say the contarct has activated. Seems to be too good to be true, Be interesting to see what Virgin are going to do to keep us after the 6 months. :j:j0 -
As I said please view our cashback centre online - we have full instructions:
http://www.e2save.com/faq.php?show=CAA
Or if you are still need advice call: 0845 655 5522
If you ring that number about cashback you just get told to redial 0845 655 1246.
A quick search of the forums shows the number of problems with e2save and their cashback, and unfortunately even if you follow the instructions to the letter, e2save often avoid their end of the bargain.
A few of us in our office signed to e2save last year on the strength of a recommendation from our colleague who had no problems previously (when they used to be called "clearance branch of carphone warehouse").
We have ALL since had problems with e2save cashback. All bills have been sent on time. Example problems:
1. Automatic checkback not received
2. Cheques not sent out, supposedly lost in post (although as you said yourself, lost in post is supposed to be a rare event)
3. Introduce a friend bonus (£20) not paid to two signup referrals
4. Operators who don't know what you should be getting, when you should be getting it or what deal you are signed up for.
Quite frankly, your "dedicated cashback team" is nothing of the sort. If you speak to someone (often after very long periods on hold, sometimes over an hour) they cannot sort the problem for you, they have to refer it on to someone else. The "someone else" being someone with no name, no telephone number and who will not call you back to advise of the "outcome of the investigation". The "dedicated cashback team" cannot provide a reference number for your call, often cannot find your details, look at the wrong contract and will not confirm if anything has been sent out. A call today, hoping for something new following the positivity on this thread and feedback from the company themselves, just leads to a call where you are fobbed off with no information other than "someone will look into it for you, it's out of my hands, thank you for calling e2save" then the lovely unobtainable tone as you are cut off without a chance to reply.
Frustrated is not the word. I am very surprised Martin is recommending this company, because when things go wrong they go spectacularly wrong, you will spend months being fobbed off and stilll you won't get your money. Look elsewhere on the forum at people who have even had to go as far as filing at the small claims court only for cheques to mysteriously arrive days later with no apology or explanation. Or those who have not got their money until they have written to Charles Dunstone himself.
Quite frankly e2save cashback scheme is the most compelling argument for staying on pay as you go, which is exactly where I will be going back to once the contract ends.
Remember the old saying, if something looks too good to be true, it invariably is.0 -

Life is hassle enough, and it will be far too much hassle for people to change contracts and possibly phone numbers again every six months. They know this. Many will leave or go for another deal, but others will stay longer term.
As with the TV market it is clear that Virgin is going all out for market share, and that usually means loss leaders to get the subscriber numbers up (e.g. Talk Talk Broadband as a good example).
Virgin Mobile is excellent though and I don't have a bad word to say about it currently.0 -

Be aware of misleading information regarding claiming your cashback. I have already taken this offer up and it is the second free deal that I have taken up with E2Save. However you must sned back the correct bill to get your money and they deliberately try to confuse you so that you will not be able to claim.
If it says to send your third bill, it will actually be the second bill that you send. This is because the first bill you actually recieve will usually cover more than one month and will count as your first two bills. This is made clear in the small print, but if you don't read it carefully it can easily be missed. This is also why they only give you 30 days in the hope that you will not realise before it is too late.
Always go by the dates shown in your online account on the e2save site, as they show what dated bill to send in, e.g. send bill dated March 2007, get cashback May 2007 for example. Much better than the more vague "4th bill".0 -
On another note can this deal be used for more than one person in a household? because, all my family (mother, farther, sister and my girl friend) could take up this deal (there on pay as you go at the moment) or is it one per household?

Cannot comment on the specific deal, but Virgin do have a condition regarding no more than two contracts on direct debit. Not sure if this applies to two per household or two per person.0 -
I have just had a nightmare with these guys, it took me six months to get a cash back from them, there customer service totally sucked, i eventually got it once i got Trading Standards to fight my case.

Hello This is my first post and just wanted to tell others about my cashback experience with Carphone Warehouse. Our contract stated that the claim for cashback had to be sent via recorded with copies of the relevant bills and we did this at the specified time in September 2006. Numerous calls ensued and we were repeatedly told the cheque had been sent and then we gave our debit card details for our cashback to be refunded but to no avail. We contacted our local Trading Standards who contacted Carphone Warehouse and eventually in March 2007 we recieved our cashback of £150.00. Just a word of warning about cashback deals.
thanks

Just to get this straight re stuff "lost in the post". To claim cashback you send in bill within a month of date on it. E2save may then send you cashback within 30 days of receipt of your claim, say 5 weeks after the date on the bill. If no cashback received by then you take a deep breath, settle down with a flask and sleeping bag and phone e2save customer support. You say "Where's my cash?" , they eventually say "Did you send it recorded delivery?" . "YES!!" you cry triumphantly. "Sorry, as per the terms and conditions "for a claim to go through the proof of posting must be sent to us within the period allowed for claiming cashback (one month)"" ie a week ago.
Am I missing something here or are e2save lulling folk into a false sense of security by advising recorded delivery as opposed to special delivery. Anyhow, in my experience the only things that ever go missing in the post have something to do with money being owed to me, the council tax bill never goes astray.“I look like Spiderman at a funeral”~ Karl Pilkington0 -
