Best wishes to you all. I hope you will feel much better and able to enjoy your home. It's certainly a very interesting topic but not if you are going through it. I hope you find peace.0

I too pray for you to have a peaceful night. xx(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -
We live in a very old farm house. It was initially owned by my grandad and dates back to 1700. We often hear doors slamming, noises upstairs, get up to windows open that were closed when we went to bed and hear odd noises at night too. Probably as I've
lived here most of my life countryside sounds are what I have grown up with. The way I see it is some houses are old, they have character. Beams creak, wood expands, I've heard the odd voice, thought I saw someone at a window or 'felt' someone standing behind me. I live with these things as I do the field mice that frequent my garden or the nature that surrounds us. I am not playing down your fear at all but sometimes accepting things is better than worrying about what might be there.Never look down on anyone unless you are bending to help them up.....0 -
I have lived in a couple of houses which had a presence, the most noticable one being an old soldier. He would walk up and down stairs, look out of windows at neighbours and try to open the bedroom doors when we were in bed but other than that he was fine - untill I moved out and a German family moved in! The three teenage children stayed there for two nights and refused to go back as he was throwing stuff, they complained they were being hit while they were trying to sleep, the noises were really loud and he really put on a show for them. The lady ended up getting a Vicar out and he sent the deliverence man round there, peace ever since.
The other presence lives at my parents house and she spooks me to wind me up, she knows I get creeped out so she always makes herself known to meIts a bit of a game for her, she does no harm, except for my blood pressure! I also have my own guardian who warns me of certain situations and people, and who pops up in my car sometimes at night aswell as in the bedroom. I know I proberly sound loopy but these spirits don't bother me, its the living who can hurt you, not these.

Hello OP
I wont keep this long, but it has been the plan all along to stop people from believing in faiths of any kind. Every single faith states clearly that we are not the only creation. There are other beings that live amongst us which we cannot see. When a place of dwelling is unattended for a long long period of time, other beings will begin to inhabit the place. Then obviously you crash the party so they will create mischief because that is what they do.Fear is like a fuel for these things, as is non faith.
If the vicar thing doesnt work out, PM me.
Honestly? I'd be more worried if I encountered you in my house...no offence but you're coming across as 100% bonkers
On the general point of people believing in ghosties, !!!!!ies and long-legged beasties...I'm so glad they do! It means that it's relatively simple to drive the price down on a bloody good house if there's been past rumours of 'paranormal activity'. It's certainly why our extremely old house was bought for a song....
Op - what you're getting from your vicar is a placebo. It'll probably work as you'll be less sensitive to the sorts of noises old houses (especially those in the country) give out. Just do whatever it is that makes you feel better there.“Don't do it! Stay away from your potential. You'll mess it up, it's potential, leave it. Anyway, it's like your bank balance - you always have a lot less than you think.”

Hi OP,
Hope you had a better night. We definatly had peace of mind after our home was blessed.
Thinking of you.0 -
Thanks for your concern for us. We certainly felt more peaceful after the blessing. There have been noises but not the big thumps that we had before. I think we will have to just get used to it.
The main problem for me is that I don't think I could give anyone what is supposed to be our guest bedroom. I don't like to be in it so how could I put guests in there. Maybe it's all in my head, I start to think that sometimes but the rest of the family have experienced things too. I am trying to use the advice on here that other people have these strange noises etc and that they cannot do us any harm. My mum used to say that too, it's not the dead that can hurt you, but the living.
I am going to try to put extra lights in the bedroom and play some music to see if that helps.
Welshwoofs, I was hoping that we could get more for our house if we advertise it as haunted lol.0 -

There's a large (spare) bedroom in our house that I can't sleep in. There's no huge outstanding sense of dread or fear or anything like that, I just feel a little uncomfortable and can't totally relax in there and I lie awake for hours almost 'on guard'.
OH has no such problem with this room.
My son has just visited and slept in this room. Only he didn't sleep, he felt exactly as I do (I didn't speak to him about the room at all so he had no preconceived ideas or feelings).
I do think some people are more susceptible to being affected by external forces (whether they be simple electrical issues or paranormal issues or anything in between).
Perhaps your future guests may not pick up on the same things you do.Herman - MP for all!0
