Mum hit by car at petrol station

Can't see anywhere else where to post a legal issue so here goes. I have just found out that my Mum was walking to the till after filling up her car when a driver leaving going fast hit her and knocked her up into the air. She is upset but says she is ok. She said the man was oploogetc and in tears himself. His excuse was he was overtired at work. This is the reason why she hasn't yet reported it.
Can anyone advise what she should do as she seems reluctant to take it further. She won't let me take her for a check up and said she will leave it till tomorrow.

If she don't want to take it further then maybe you should drop it?0

What do you want to happen ?I think the surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that none of it has tried to contact us.0

As long as she is not seriously hurt, why not just accept the bloke's apology. You say that he was genuinely upset. If he had hurled abuse at her, it would be a different situation. Perhaps he had had a really bad day.0 -
Having a really bad day is no excuse for running somebody over.I think the surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that none of it has tried to contact us.0

Ok, fair enough. I just wanted to test the water having not dealt with anything like this before. I am not looking to get anything out of this for her but just wanted to cover her in case something happened later down the line and we are told it should have been reported. It's the fact that he was driving too fast in the forecourt. What if it had been on the pavement ? Different story then. He gave her his details.0

I'll use that in court if I ever do anything seriously wrong "I was having a bad day"
Driving fast and tired is surely unacceptable ?0 -
I am not sure there are any enforceable speed limits on a petrol station as it is private land.
I guess it would be due care and attention.Thinking critically since 1996....0 -
Having a really bad day is no excuse for running somebody over.
True story.
And many people from older generations tend to take an 'I'll be fine' and 'I don't want to cause a fuss' attitude to things that can be quite serious - being knocked over by a car for example.
She needs to get checked out and the police informed.0 -
Your mom needs checking over for any internal injuries. It's always better to be safe than sorry.
Also, this driver needs reporting. If he frequently drives while tired, he may have his next accident whilst driving at speed. Tiredness is no excuse to be putting other people at risk.
You could save a life by reporting this.0
