The striped lines on the supermarket are not a Zebra Crossing in he accepted sense - the lines and signs are advisory only (on private property) but may be used as corroboration if an accident results.

Be careful when assuming you have immunity from the law, if you are on "private property."
The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark

So have you chased it up, as it is a serious matter? How is mum, has she sought medical advice yet?
Last report was "bit of a bruise".

2 weeks on and no police. CCTV evidence will be long gone now. What a disgrace. I have emailed the police on behalf of her as she has given up hope.

I thought from day one your mother wasn't that bothered?

I find this with the police these days for minor crimes its just an incident number and no investigation. Last time my biked was nicked they never came round.

There is a chance they have already got the CCTV evidence

Unless she was hurt or the man was driving dangerously fast or had been drinking or committed other serious traffic offences what can they really do? The police are being drastcially reduced in numbers, they don't have the capacity to investigate what basically amounts to a near miss and no harm done, particularly as your mother, the injured party, doesn't want to press charges.

The best they could do in the circumstances is track down his details via a pnc check and go round and ask him politely not to do it again, and he has already apologised so what, really, is the point?

I am sure if your mother wanted to chase it civilly that would be a different matter but I don't see that a serious criminal offence has occurred. Your mum is ok, be glad for that.

OP, seeing as your mother hasn't sustained any real injury and was willing to let it go from the outset maybe you should now follow suit and get on with your own life.

Just as well I care enough about my mum and contacted them myself. They had overlooked the report and have now taken the case very seriously. Can't say too much yet but lets just say the guy was driving an illegal car and there are other circumstances. The CCTV didn't quite show everything as it was on the pumps more but they could clearly see my mums head near the ground and the guy was not looking where he was going. He also had been to the shop next door and was using it as a turn around.

So for all the judgemental cynics here who have given me a kicking thoughout this post perhaps you won't be so quick to jump to conclusions again. it could happen to a member of your family or even yourself which I of course I hope it doesn't !

Why are you still going on about this on a consumer rights forum.
As for the judgemental cynics they are probably wondering why you were on here rather than putting all your effort in getting your mother to seek medical advice.
I think the surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that none of it has tried to contact us.
