I think you will find that the police find the knocking over a person to be very serious indeed.

Exactly. Don't understand why some people think it isn't.

Absurd? Youve never worked in a petrol station have you, Cars move slow through the forecourt.

Nasty? The OP is digging for compo.

Rubbish, I have seen cars take off practically on two wheels from a petrol pump, usually with idiotic boy racers behind the wheel!

But anyway, even if you are hit by a car at slow speed, it can still cause varying degrees of injury as it all depends on where you are hit and where and how you land. A car does NOT have to be going fast to cause possible serious injury.

Erm... The guy hit a person with his car... A conviction would be handed on a plate, probably for driving with undue care and attention. Points and a fine at least.

Not sure why the police wouldn't be interested... If ops mum pursued it

Not necessarily. I've been involved in an accident with a person and both insurance company and police said wasn't my fault. Premiums didnt even go up, they went down. Both police and insurance company said I'd done everything possible to avoid the accident.

Of course in my case I swerved to avoid them/hit the brakes......and they ran back in front of me a 2nd time. Police said he was very lucky I had such good reactions or I mightve hit him going 30 as opposed to the 5-10 they reckon I was doing upon impact.

As for the police thinking its a very serious matter......they were making plenty of jokes that night. Then again the circumstances around my accident were pretty unusual to say the least. Including me having to chase the guy (while I was on the phone to emergency services) because he got up and ran away.

Passing your driving test doesnt mean you're a good driver. All it means is you've reached a level where you are competent enough to drive without supervision.

If you havent had any near misses (or should I say, if you think you haven't) and consider yourself a good driver.......chances are you're one of those who cause the near misses. Some days I swear my car is invisible.

Well, a week later and the police have still not been. She was given an incident number so she has proof.

Over the holidays I witnessed an elderly bloke driving across a zebra crossing in sainsburys car park as a man was carrying his baby across. The old guy wound his window down and gave the pedestrian a barrage of abuse and threats of " you will end up in prison if I call the police" the pedestrian said that surely walking across a zebra crossing doesn't warrant arrest. I thought he kept quite calm considering the guy nearly ran him and his baby over. The driver was very aggressive and quite incredulous he was in the right.i know it was a private car park but surely if he had hit the man and child he would be the one arrested?

So have you chased it up, as it is a serious matter? How is mum, has she sought medical advice yet?

The striped lines on the supermarket are not a Zebra Crossing in he accepted sense - the lines and signs are advisory only (on private property) but may be used as corroboration if an accident results.

It doesn't matter whether there are stripy lines or not - car drivers shouldn't run over pedestrians!
