It means you get money despite not having a valid complaint-so yes it's good news.Overtiredmum2010 wrote: »So thats good news for me?0 -
After BC rejected my PPI claim in March 2012 I referred the it to the FOS. I received a couple of letters from the FOS last year advising of the backlog and that my claim would be looked at in due course.
I received an "initial assessment" letter in my favour in early April this year giving BC until 29th April to respond. On the 24th April the FOS advised that BC had challenged the initial assessment. This will now be reviewed again by the FOS within the next 2 months or so.
The credit card was originally an Egg card and has been paid off and closed.
The BC challenge simply restated some of the terms and conditions of the PPI.
I believe this is just a policy of BC to delay payment for as long as possible.
My only other claims Lloyds (£5K) and Egg loans(£7K) were settled without recourse to the FOS.
Can anyone advise the typical lead time from disputing the initial assessment and resolution?
Many thanks0 -
The whole FOS process is taking around eighteen months, but if it goes all the way to an actual Ombudsman (rather than just an adjudicator) it can be even longer.flashman1000 wrote: »lead time?
The longest I've seen anyone still waiting on FOS on this forum is ...seven years!
I wouldn't be too keen to believe it is "policy" for Barclaycard to simply delay payment, if they've appealed the initial assessment it's because they feel you have no case.0 -

Highly unlikely. Delays cost them money. Normally, banks only appeal an adjudicator decision if they feel the decision is flawed.
12-18 months to get an adjudicator (that is the bit you have done). Another 12-18 months for an ombudsman to review it.Can anyone advise the typical lead time from disputing the initial assessment and resolution?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Have now received payments from Barclaycard for both complaints about Barclaycard and Morgan stanly that we're upheld by the FOS.
Start to finish it took about 18 months each but in the end Barclaycard agreed they were miss sold and refunded full on both. Was a long process but got there in the end.

Been two years since our initial Barclaycard complaint. 20 months with the fos and we had an email yesterday saying we were near the front of the redress queue. (Whatever that means).
Barclaycard refused clAim as application was posted, we disputed this and they apologised and said it was done in branch! But still rejected it.....
Anyway, we wait and wait and wait.I'm Debt Free :j 2/09/2013
