    it sure is!
got a little bit to pay of my credit card, things are quiet at work so i have been toying with the idea of getting a new job ( didnt want to jump ship if there is a chance of redundancy as i have been there for 12 years),payout means i dont have to worry about that, must admit i can feel a little shopping spree coming on after a few home improvements

  • Well done!
Would you mind saying when the Egg card was applied for (I'm assuming it was a pre-ticked box?), when the case was referred to FOS, and how long each stage took?
We're waiting for an Egg/Barclaycard referred to FOS at end of July 2012, I'm assuming we've at least another 6 months of waiting to go...?
Thank you - and congratulations on your win :)

Sure, yes, I got the Egg card in 2000. I initate the complaint in March 2012. Barclaycard reject it in May 2012. I began the FOS procees in Aug 2012 and got several letters from FOS advising that they had set up a complaint on there system and in late Dec 2012 got the letters from FOS advising they had upheld my complaint and I should expect to hear from Barclays within 8 weeks. I got the offer from Barclaycard early Feb 2013. As my account was closed they asked for bank details to tranfer funds and 2 days later I was substantially more comfortable. So it seems I had a relatively straightforward ride despite the original dismissal. So don't give up.
  • Ooh! Thank you mronco - it seems perhaps we may not be so very far away from some news, though we haven't heard anything as yet? :)

I am in a similar spot. I opened an egg card in 2000. Barclaycard rejected my claim last July after many many calls to try and get it dealt with. I went to the fos in August but I am still waiting on any answers. When I spoke with the fos a few weeks ago they told me Barclaycard had come back to them and they still won't payout. It's currently waiting on an adudacater to take my case. I believe if I win I could get around 10k. I wonder is that the reason they are digging their heels due to the high value.
On another note I claimed on cpp from my Morgan Stanley card to Barclaycard a few weeks ago and that was also rejected. Another letter to the fos for me.
    Good luck folks!

:j After my previous post few days ago, i received letter off fos which didnt match my conversation i had with them two days before. rang them to find out they were still upholding my complaint, and telling barclaycard to make me an offer by 16 march,or it will go to the ombudsman.
The info barclaycard had sent to try and stop my claim, was a poor unclear copy, and the details of the info sent still made it clear that it was mis-sold to me.
so all not lost like i'd previously thought. so fingers crossed barclaycard now see sense, and make me a correct offer rather than it cost them even more by trying to take it further.

good luck to rest of you,it is a fight, but one which we can win, just dont give up. will keep you informed of any news. :)

Hopefully some encouraging information for you guys dealing with Barclaycard. I claimed for PPI on an Egg card which became Barclaycard. Barclaycard originally dismissed my claim, I subsequently went to FOS with identical information plus Barclaycards rejection letter. FOS upheld my complaint. I became frustrated with absolutely no correspondence Barclaycard after FOS had upheld the complaint. I emailed FOS and got no replies. Due to lack of any response I rang FOS and they confirmed all my emails were recorded on my complaint number. They eventually did reply to my emails and were very apologetic for not replying sooner. They advised I wait a further couple of weeks but if I did not hear from Barclaycard by a specific date that I contact them. Within days I recieved an written offer from Barclaycard requesting my bank details if I accepted. After accepting, the money was in my account in 2 days. So keep optimistic and hassle FOS if you are not getting responses from the banks within the time scales that FOS have explictly stated. I seems that Bank respond to FOS not the claimant. Good Luck

Thanks for your post, following your experience, I gave the FoS another call and was more politely insistent than usual. It's almost three months since the deadline expired, Barclaycard have done absolutely nothing and neither have the FoS, not even a reminder to Barclays.

When I finally got through to the FoS I insisted that they sent a reminder direct to Barclays whilst I was on the phone. After a bit of grumbling they agreed. Funnily enough the FoS even had the specific email address of the individual to contact in the Barclaycard PPI department. Remember the public cannot directly contact this department.

I gave Barclays another call a couple of days later and they informed me that they were in the process of calculating a figure and I should expect to receive an offer from them over the next few days. This is a significant change as over the past couple of months Barclays have barely been prepared to admit that the complaint even existed!

I'd suggest everyone waiting for a response where the deadline has passed need to push the FoS into sending a reminder otherwise they'll just sit and wait for a response themselves. The lady I spoke to at the FoS said that it wasn't unusual for banks to take 6 months to respond to an initial assessment! It does seem to make the deadline set by the FoS to be both misleading and pointless.

Hi Magpielady, have you received your payment, we've had our letter from FOS, we are thinking that BC will take 12 weeks, just wondering how long they take to make the payment after that, thanks

hi becca , my offer did take 12 weeks to come through,
no payment yet i did call BC to check they had my acceptance letter, they received it on 1st March, guy i spoke to said it can take 28 days for payment ,it also says 28 days on their website, however he also said payment MAY be sooner as they had taken on more staff in the payment department, some ppl on here have had payment within 5 working days.i have seen posts on here where payment has taken longer but most of those post go back to last year, so i am hoping they are gettng their act together now. So my day starts with checking my bank balance each morning! will let you know as soon as i gt it, good luck.
