Today I received what seems to be the standard letter from the FOS. It states that they have written to the bank to invite them to:

Make an offer which meets my claim in full; or
Provide them with the information they beleive they need to reach a conclusion on the merits of my claim.

They also state that as I probably know, in almost all of the charges complaints, the banks have made offers to meet the claim and they will let me know what the Bank of Scotland's response is and if they haven't heard from the bank in 6 weeks, they will write to advise me. Here's hoping it's not that long!!

    Hello
Just a quick post as I won using the FO, got a bit daunted by the court process. Sent it to them on 13th June and received a letter yesterday saying they will pay me £468. Thought it might be any error as I had claimed £439 and that included interest. I sent the form saying I accept straight away.

So would recommended them to other people.

hubby recieved letter today, after turning down banks offer, and asking them about the cost to bank for charges, it's no suprise they avoided answering the questions , but i't was a suprise they didn't just pay up.instead they have advised he write to financial ombudsman,so what does he need to do, is at just a case of writing to thank them for reviewing it,and sending all correspondance or what?

Started a claim throoough FOS for my bank statements and charges from Cldesdale bank in May. On May 16 they sent standard investigating letter. Yesterday the 8 weeks were up so I phoned the FOS who said send back the form but maybe phone the bank as well. I phoned the Leeds Advice Quality Unit 0113 2315010 who sent original letter. They could not understand why I had not been contacted again so they looked at file WHICH IS NOW CLOSED. They said they sent out 2 letters on the 18th May in seperated envelopes. Once saying they would try to get my bank statement copies the other one a final responce saying no refund as per T&C's blah blah. As I had not responded the case is now CLOSED. She then went on to say that I was never on the systen for getting my bank statents (so why did they send out a letter regarding this) and that they cannot obtain closed a/c details due to a problem with closed a/c's!!!!! I said I was sending the forms off to the FOS and she said I would be better to by pass the FOS and just send them a responce to their final responce as this would speed things up. Like I am going to do that!!! So IMO they have waisted the 8 weeks as I cannot believe 2 letters would go missing. I phoned the FOS again and they did not sound suprised at this IMO tactic. I have now sent them the form but unfortunatly they the FOS said it will take about 6 months !!! I have also demanded that the bank send me a copy of both these letters. So any one in this position especially with the Clydesdale please keep phoning then in the 8 week period taking a note of the date, time and person.

I accepted my offer through the FO 2 weeks ago, I have tried phoning the 01977 numbers and they know nothing about it.......does anyone know how long it should take? The FO say it can take 4 weeks but I really hope not!!

I phoned the FO today to enquire about mine as I am at the same stage as you. They said they were really busy and it was taking them about 3 weeks to put through the acceptance forms and then the bank had 4-6 weeks to pay me,so realistically it would take about 8 weeks to see my money.

But on a plus point I finally received my money from HBoS in my account today............after 17 days from accepting offer and many phone calls!
  • Received a letter from the ombudsman this morning.

Nationwide still believe there charges are fair, but they are willing to offer me a full refund of all charges claimed (amount includes interest) without admitting any liability
