  • words fail me!!

Not possible, if you have a grip of the laws of psychology, words failing you is just not possible as defined around the forum recently.

If the NT Scotland are trialling IR panels, either they are grossly misinformed, or very well informed, perhaps we all should take a bit of time out and await their view, if indeed they publish.

Have you a link for this trial? What is the aim?

Whatever their aim - the laws of physics still apply and Infrared heaters will not, indeed cannot, produce any more heat(for the same power input) than any other electrical heater.

You are waisting your time, he is convinced he is right and the laws of physics do not apply to him, some people just like to argue for arguments sake even when numerous people have told them they are wrong

Like I said, how about we await a third party view?

No one EVER said anything different to that, you are arguing a point against no one.
  • HiYa fishybusiness,

If the freebie willingly accepted by NTSc doesn't generate enough free Publicity for the German manufacturers of this new Paul Daniels product. I'd like them to know I'll accept a similar free install arrangement by Historic Scotland who are funding the work. and write even more glowing [STRIKE]Infomercial's[/STRIKE] reports, and strive to drum up some business for them. Maybe then they can break out of Germany & America only and get a foothold on sales in the rest of Europe in general and the UK in the particular.

    Hi Guys

without getting into a heated debate about weather these panel's are good or bad i have to say i read the speal and heard the sales pitches and i have looked up the panels on the internet and ive bought an entire system

    price wise

    i have bought
    4 900w
    3 600w
    1 500w
    1 400w

i have paid £6700 i have also bought a solar panel system to accompany it, now if i look at the FIT and export payments to pay for the panels, the saving generated by the panel's in the summer should in theory give me a reduction in my overall heating costs against my usage of gas that would not be used ....

now i do not sell or advertise any product and i work at a motor manufacturing plant building Cars so for me its about saving money, the Feed in Tariff and the Export Tariff will give me a return on my investment in about 10 years with a further 10 years remaining on the Fit Deal

the system is running with each room set slightly different
    • Living room 21c
    • Bathroom 21c
    • Bedrooms 19c
    • Hallway 20c
    • Landing 20c
    • Kitchen 18c
    • Dining Room 18c

The system is averaging about 30kW a day @ 11.90 pence per kW above my normal usage

so the system at present is costing on a 30 day roiling month approx £107.10 a month

Now the system has only been operating for 2 months so in all honesty i cannot genuinely say if it is good or bad..However it feels warmer than my Gas central heating and feels nicer in a strange way

    Welcome to the forum.

There is little point repeating the points from earlier in the thread.

Your investment in solar panels will probably produce savings in the long term from the FIT subsidy. However they will still produce those savings regardless of buying the infrared heaters or not.

You might as well state that you can make a saving by not going on holiday, or economising on groceries etc, and argue that those savings can be set against your energy bills.

9 heaters for £6700 is an average of £744 each! However if you are happy with an extra £107 a month, at this time of year, above your normal usage - so be it! I assume you are heating water with gas?

There are plenty on Ebay for £120 - £300 each depending on size / wattage and how pretty the design is etc. I suspect that, if you must use these heaters, the saving on the outlay could have gone a long way to paying your next electricity bill, and probably next winters' too.

To be honest I find that quite expensive given that we aren't suffering ice days and heavy snow fall yet!. Previously I was topping up an average of £100 a month on an expensive prepayment E7 tariff using 25 year old storage heaters with an outlay of nil (as they were already fitted). That was during a winter where we had about two weeks of lying snow over Xmas and several below -10c nights and days where it didn't go much above freezing.

At the moment you have only had these fitted for 2 months, we have yet to have a proper winter cold snap, in fact I think we have had a sum total of 2 / 3 nights where i've had to scrape the ice off the car windscreen at 6AM, and you are already paying £107 a month.....

Its been pretty mild in some areas recently, in fact parts of Devon recorded an overnight low of 13c on Sunday night, more akin to late Spring than December!. Hardly a challenge for any heating system, in fact the residual heat from my desiccant dehumidifier is keeping my bedroom at 17c during a day when its 12c outside and consuming just 330w when switching from its 40% rh set humidistat, and this bedroom is over a garage with 3 outside walls, so chilly and damp by design, especially the floor, very little heat is needed even in this room when its mild. Winter hasn't really arrived yet, and most heating systems are only ticking over. In fact today has been the coldest its been here for a number of weeks.

Will be interesting to see how your monthly usage changes and how your newly fitted heaters cope, once our mild Autumn / Early Winter changes to a real prolonged cold spell with sub minus nights and days of lying snow.......
