  • Well mine had a gambing problem so i'd probably be poor.

Mine too, also a serial cheat..thinking about though now so glad he cheated again after I gave him yet another chance otherwise I wouldn't have ditched him and met my lovely hubby and had our beautiful children :-)

First boyfriend has quite an exciting life in London, he is a BAFTA award winner. We vaguely keep in touch via fb and along with other friends meet up occasionally when he visits home. No regrets, I have a great life with my husband and we just drifted apart as we pursued different paths.

I got engaged at 16. However his parents were both teachers and both total snobs and his Dad took great delight in predicting I would fail all my A-Levels and at 19 be living in a grotty council flat with three kids none of which I knew who the fathers were... I sometimes really wish I could see him again to see his face when I told him I did pass my A-Levels, I'm now more qualified than him, I dont live in a council house, I dont have children and I have a pretty good job in the NHS ;)

I married my first boyfriend and we did have some happy years, but we separated 4 years ago after he decided that it wasn't what he wanted.

I still wonder how many of the 10 years we were together he lied for :(

53 years later - just where I am now! OK - I'm now on my own - but I was with him when he died, and his last words to me were "I love you".
  • Absolutely no idea, I was only fourteen!

I'd be a widow - sadly my first boyfriend died in 1992, at an early age.

We had split up in 1979, and I met my now husband a few months later.

I was sad when I heard about my first boyfriend, as I had always remembered him with fondness, we just weren't right for each other.

Me too, mine died after going into a diabetic coma in his late twenties :(

I would be exactly where I am now - we met when I was 19 and have been together ever since x
  • I would be unhappy with next to no confidence and a mother in law that would strop if she didn’t get her own way!

We split after buying a house together for 6 months, although we had been together for 7 years and engaged for 3 of those. We were very young and naïve and I think I had too many ambitions for it too last any longer than it did as I have always wanted a fulfilling career and got good grades at school, college and uni. He wasn’t happy when I passed my degree at a higher level than his.

I spent a lot of the seven years forgiving him for sending and receiving inappropriate texts and emails with other girls and constantly wondering whether I was being cheated on. He would always apologise and say he wouldn’t do it again but he always did. I found out about one of these episodes on the morning of one of my best friends weddings and had to spend the day pretending I was happy and loved up – not nice!

I would very often go alone on group nights out with friends and their partners and felt very lonely for a lot of my time with him.

It took a very good friend to show me that I wasn’t being treated properly and I have now found my Real Man.

Incidentally the Ex had to move back in with his parents as he lost his job because he wanted the pay of management but wouldn’t put in the effort required. He also now has silly hair, scruffy facial hair and a load of tattoos (not my cup of tea) plus he has had a string of girlfriends all of which left him when they found him sending and receiving inappropriate texts and emails with other girls!

I was a mug to think he would change!
