I posted a few days ago that I tried to make an online claim for the cashback and like many others had received no confirmation email so I decided to try again tonight after having no luck emailing and calling them. Unbelievably I got the magic email confirmation with my claim reference on!! Woo-hoo! I don't know if this is any help to anybody but I changed a couple of things from my previous online claim:
    1) My receipt says 'Currys PC World' so the first time I entered Currys as the retailer, this time I entered PC World.

    2) I entered the serial number from the box firstly with zeros (couldn't tell if they were zeros or letter O's!!) However the screen said that the serial number already existed - probably from my last try on 2/1/13! So I tried it with letter O's and when it reached the end of the claim process I had received the confirmation email.

Not sure if this will help anyone but might be worth another try if it means getting the cashback. Now to wait and see if the money ever makes it into my account........

Like many others I am having a lot of problems getting the cashback. Have complained directly to MD (a griffiths) who is out of the office for a few weeks, but no one is picking up his emails. Have tried the phone helpline and run up more than £5 in call charges without getting through. I can't complete the claim form because I can't find the serial number. I know it is on the reverse of my galaxy 10.1 note, but even with a magnifying glass it is impossible to desipher. E mail from the rather inaptly named help desk told me to look on the box. Nothing there and several further emails, (including attaching photos of the box!) has elicited no response. Find it hard to believe that this is a world class communications company. Any ideas?

    UPDATE ......
    Some success …
    Sent an email to OPIA
complaint plus details of claim suggestion of incompetence etc etc and request for acknowledgement.
Then sent same mail to Samsung support with covering note under ‘Others’ label
received auto reply from Samsung saying they would get back to me
Then forwarded OPIA mail and Samsung reply to the promotion email address.
Two hours later a reply from the promotion address confirming that they had my claim and had safely stored my bank details. They attached a copy of the confirmation email that I never received that listed my claim ID number and told me that …..
All that is left for you to do is wait for your claim to be validated. The checking and validation process may take up to 14 days. We will then contact you to confirm that your claim has been validated.
Successful claims will be settled electronically using the bank details provided during your application.
    So now I wait!

But at least I now have various emails and records that could illustrate the incompetent way in which Samsung and their agents OPIA have dealt with this matter. :D :T :D

I also had a further email today from Opia which validated my claim - all I need to do now is wait for the money to arrive in my account. Hope it's not a long wait. :p

The serial number is on the back of the machine, but if you switch it on, go to settings, scroll down the bottom to 'about device' then click on status, the serial number is displayed in larger characters there.
  • Perhaps Opia should spend a little less time sponsoring bowling tournaments and a bit more time sending out cheques....

No one got a receipt from Tesco Direct. It's in the T&Cs on the Samsung Cashback site that in the case of Tesco they will accept the order confirmation e-mail. Mine validated fine with that and I wasn't asked for anything further. Seems like everyone is now being asked for pictures though.

It's a pain when people are having so much trouble contacting them
  • I've just had the missing info email requesting pics of the back of the tablet. Its odd that the original claim never asked for this information.
  • I got the same email requesting a photo of the reverse of the tablet, I emailed Opia and samsung stating they were in breach of the promotion t&c's, couple of hours later I had received an email from Samsung saying the claim now validated and a phone call from Opia apologising claiming they were 'having some problems with the claims at their end', they offered to fastrack the payment within 7 days by way of apology, might be worth having a go.
