  • In March i sent Abbey a cheque and request asking for my statements. 5 weeks later I received a letter from Abbey asking me to complete a change of address form as they didnt hold my current address, i returned the completed form on the 8th May 2007 i telephoned them on the 11th June when i was told that they had not received my completed change of address form and cheque, they told me to go to my local branch which i did that day and they confirmed the change of address had been actioned. My cheque was cashed on the 15th June and i have heard nothing from them since. I contacted them yesterday (29th) to be told that i had to allow 40 days from the 15th June when the cheque was cashed. is this right???? Is this just one long delay tactic and does anyone have any suggestions as to how i can speed Abbey up?

Abbey do seem to be the worst for getting the statements/information from, use the link above by Loz and keep pestering your local branch until you get some action.

I haven't heard of being able to access the information online with Abbey, only Lloyds and HSBC but perhaps someone else knows different.

I'm having problems getting statements from Abbey aswell so it looks like they are just using any delaying tactics that they can.

what action if banks do not provide statements
I'm having problems getting statements from Abbey aswell so it looks like they are just using any delaying tactics that they can.

I had a similar problem with Abbey - compounded by the fact I had moved since closing my account! I lodged a complaint (on-line) with the Information Commissioner and the statements arrived in a week (once I'd resolved my identity and address issues for a 2nd time!)

Its all in Martin's Article but the web address is..

Id give them a ring & say if you havent got them in the next 7 days you will contact the FO, tell them you will follow up the conversation with a letter. If you dont get any joy after that I would get in touch with the FO.

Contact the Information Commissioner at http://www.ico.gov.uk/

you can fill in the complaints form on-line :)

Abbey are one of the worst to get the info from, you need to pester them daily and use the above link to complain.

    what next
    Hi All
Been helping a friend claim his charges from Abbey, wrote to them on 1st April, got all the usual stuff i have been reading about, statements for last 14 months etc but nothing dating back for 4 years to 2001, complained for him on 1st July Via the Information Commissioner on line, Can anybody tell me how long it can take after the complaint to finally have a list of charges going back the 6 years, thanks in advance

    Hi,
I had the same problem with Abbey, received 13 large envelopes each with a monthly statement and then another very thick large envelope about 2 weeks later with the past five years info. I also received my £10 back as they took ages to receive.

I thought that i was the only daft 1 thinking that some charges were missing but since I did not have proof cannot do anything about it.
