what action if banks do not provide statements

Hi can anyone tell me if they have experienced the same with Abbey. I wrote to them with the 1st template requesting charges back, they wrote back on day 39! telling me they were looking into my complaint?? A few days later I got a letter through with 12 months statements in not the 6 years, Im not sure what to write back with now, they have cashed the chq I sent for £10.00.

Has anyone else had problems getting statements from Abbey? I have sent them the first letter on May 25th and STILL not recieved my statements, I have chased it up SEVERAL times with them to be told there ordered.

I have just spoken AGAIN to them and been told they sent me a letter out on 1st August for a £10 fee, this has been 2 months trying to get my statements and i`ve never been told about the fee, I stand no chance on getting the charges or do i when they cant even produce statements!!!!

Anyone any suggestions of what to do next?

MY HUSBAND IS WITH THE ABBEY AND WE HAVE BEEN WAITING 6 WEEKS, APPARENTLY THEY ARE ONE OF THE HARDEST ONES TO GET YOUR CHARGES BACK FROM. SORRY

hi ive just got back of holiday and the rest of my statements are still not here my requesting letter for them was the 1st of may ive had 3 letters since stating blah blah blah but the then sent letter out saying goodwill gesture of £170 was put in account and the cheque for £10 WAS RECIEVED AND STATEMENTS WOULD FOLLOW but if they did not here anything within 8 weeks they would consider case closed but still no statements and with this 27th july ruling were do i stand as i have not put a claim in as hav'nt been able to calculate amount

As you can see from the above posts Abbey is notoriously bad for getting out the statement/information you ask for.

As they have given you a goodwill gesture you need to go right back to them and say you will accept this in part payment only and without prejudice and will now be reporting them to the FO and the ICO. You must make it clear that they cannot close your claim at this stage or indeed in 8 weeks time as you will be proceeding with court action.

I requested as Martin adviced a year ago a copy of my Statements. they have now sent me 3 identical copies but without the charges on these. I had a very curt letter saying if I read them properly I hae done this and so have about 40 people there are no charges on what they ave sent me. I have telephoned and get put through to 15-20 different departments, what can I do, this is now over a year and I still cant find out my charges which will be in the £1000,s. Can anyone please help me

hi everyone, newbie here but what a great site.
Q. Have paid a.nat £10.00 for list of charges and all they have sent are 2 months of account transactions we did in july 2001 to sept 2001 and a letterhead saying that a complete list is attached. which wasn`t and charges are fair etc...
have turned my house upside down and have found bank statements going back about 5 years, should i try and claim back the charges from these statements or chase up a/nat for statements i have paid for....any suggestions.

they have upto 40 days to supply u with statements. Did you send for them under the SAR (subject access request)?

abbey sent my statements last 3 years first then the other 3 years about 2 weeks later they also sent my cheque back to me they were quite busy at the time so it may be best waiting to see if the others turn up like mine did

SAR ??? SENT A/NAT SAMPLE LETTER AS ON THIS WEB SITE (LETTER 1 ITHINK) . WAS THINKING OF SENDING THEM A SECOND LETTER ASKING FOR INFO, BUT AS A/NAT ARE OBVIOUSLY STALLING EVERONE AND I HAVE ABOUT 4.5 TO 5 YEARS STATEMENTS DO YOU THINK I SHOULD PUT A CLAIM IN FOR THESE CHARGES
