The Shabbey are obliged to send you all of your statements, if you made the request in writing and paid them £10. Your next step is to contact the Financial Services Ombudsman (FSO), and give them details of when you requested your statements, also if you sent your letter by recorded/signed for delivery, give them the details off the receipt for this.
Hope this helps

Should be the Information Commisioners Office you make a complaint to regarding the Data Protection Act.
Jaffrey did you send the origninal DPA by recorded delivery? If not you should do this and then wait another 40 days. I know its annoying but the ICO wont handle any complaints unless you can proof you requested this info.0 -
Have had some card companies send charge details within a few days. Co-operative are about to run out of their 40 days but they just sent monthly bill stating thanks for 10 pounds payment which they have put towards my owing figure... they cannot now say they didnt get my letter now can they. Time for another letter methinks.
All this registered post is costing a fortune!- Co-op - no details yet 10 pounds 'cashed' by them!
- A+L - 14 day reply due soon (200)

- Marbles - awaiting details
- Mint - claiming £40 to annoy them. 14 day due soon

These replies are really appreciated everyone :-)
I didn't send my letter recorded delivery 'though unfortunately, so I'll send another copy of my original letter tomorrow. Fingers crossed!0 -
Hi all,
I sent them the first letter regarding claiming asking for the statements for the previous years along with the £10, i have only received 1 years worth and keep saying the rest are in the post.
Fed up now as they have had well over the forty days and still not received any more statements.
What is the next step to get the information i require as they are stalling???0 -
Hello All I'm new here!
I Paid £10 to Abbey during early part of 2007 for the last 6 years of bank statements. It must have took abbey 2-3 months to get our statement despite following them up - they wouldn't be rushed or even acknowledge the 40day time limit.
To cut a long story short we didn 't get all our bank statements, we were missing about 2 years in the middle of this period. Don't get me wrong we got 6 years but not 6 consecutive years and the period where we got stung the most was during this missing period.
Complained to abbey who actioned the whole thing again and we received the same set of statements with the missing 2 year period. Abbey never charged us the £10.
Frustrated by now we gave up trying. By the time it took abbey to get us a second set of statements Abbey closed the door on reclaiming bank charges because of this test case. But I hear Martin Lewis on Radio 2 today saying we can still reclaim them.
Any advise please on dealing with rubbish Abbey??
Kind regards
Paul.0 -
Has nobody had the same treatment from Abbey before???0

phone them and tell them they have 3 days or you'll rwrite to the ombudsman and they'll pay a fine! worked for me. Abbey are dreadful! did they cash the cheque? (my sister is claiming from abbey, her letter and cheque they say never arrived)0

I have requested (as per templete letter) my last 6 years of bank statements from Abbey National, they responded quite quickly, but only sent me 16 months worth of statements. Does anyone know how to gee them up to cough up the other 5 years worth. Thanks Viv0

Information Commissioner http://www.ico.gov.uk/complaints/data_protection.aspxI'm not cynical I'm realistic

(If a link I give opens pop ups I won't know I don't use windows)0 -
No there is no need to go to the information commissioner yet.
Lous5th, have you changed account numbers in the last six years?Often banks will just send the information relating to the account number qouted on your initial request rather than everything related to your activity with the bank in the last six years. Just a thought0
