and did you pay as they can request a fee for doing this(max £10)! and is your account not online as you can see ALL your old statements normally (halifax do)
ring them again and request it again.....or go into a branch/followed up by a recorded letter i also believe you have to say something about the data protection act etc etc
And be aware the bank can close your account (so make sure you have another one)

I'd go into your branch (face to face IMO is alot better than talking to some shmuch on the phone) with the letter you recieved and don't leave till they make a call or give you your statements
