            Hello
It's a great feeling, down to ONE credit card!! I've been here before though, and didn't cut up my store card or my credit card. For emergencies you understand, things that we NEEEEEEEED! Yeah, and that's the mentality that's landed me back here with £3k to pay off
So yes, all cards are gone and I couldn't be happier!
January feels so long though! It's my birthday this time next week, DH has been asking what to buy me. I said I didn't want anything cos we are skint, but he said he will find me money from somewhere to buy me something.
In all honesty, I would like a card from him and for him to cook dinner! At a push maybe run me a bath :rotfl: I don't need present's, there is nothing I need or want I'd rather just spend some time together
 (or should that be
) :rotfl: Can't think of anything smart to put here...0 -
            Evening everyone

Didn't realise it had been so long since I last posted on here
Well, it was my birthday yesterday, that's me 29. Should probably start feeling like a grown up soon :rotfl:
Currently about £200 into the overdraft
£60 for the mot which included dh buying and fitting bulbs beforehand. £200 for the plasterer to do our whole hall and the bathroom ceiling. I know the plastering wasn't essential, it has now covered the holes in the hall ceiling meaning we havent used the heating as much. That's got to be a positive thing to do.
Feeling rather disappointed with myself. I really wanted to stay out of the overdraft the month. If we managed it this month I really thought we would stay out it the whole year. Maybe I'm just expecting too much too soon. Or maybe I'm just not trying hard enough

            Afternoon all!
Friday at last woop! We made it :rotfl:
Just checked the bank, £233 overdrawn. Not as bad as I though, but worse than I wanted, but.... It's not as bad as I thought. Will hold on to the positives!!
Noticed a lot of 'Tesco' on my online banking. Just added up what I spent in there since 31st December, £159.60. I honestly would have thought it was much more than that. And out of that there was £30 on dog food and some treats, £8 for a new mop, £5 for a new sweeping brush, so that's us down to £116.60. I know I spent £15 in Aldi and £8 in morrisons over the last few weeks, so food/grocery shopping is about £140 so far this month.
Need to try harder to get that down in Feb. It's much less than I thought we had spent tbh, but I know I can do better! Can't think of anything smart to put here...0 -
            Hi Zepsgal.
Sorry I haven't posted for a while.
I AM subscribed to your thread, but I never saw your updates coming up and I usually try to reply to every update. Sorry about that hun.
Happy birthday for last week. Wish I was 29
Hope you got your nice meal cooked and bath run for you. Thats just how I feel really. Just people to make me feel special and loved for the day.
Your overdraft isn't that bad, try mine at -£2000 . I would be ecstatic if mine was only -£233.
. Not a reason for you to stop trying though
Hope you are having a lovely weekend
Speak soon xx0 -
How annoying, I wrote a big long reply and it didn't post!
Gist of it was thank you, and I haven't been on here that much for the last week or so
So, I'm thinking of using my new glue gun to create a button canvas for my niece. It's her first birthday next month and I'm hoping to not spend a penny

It'll be going up to -£3750 next week when I pay my tax bill  0 -

 I couldn't imagine an overdraft that big. I could easily have one that big, but luckily my bank wouldn't allow me such a big amount!
Current total is minus £259.85. Just done a quick budget for February, £260 for the overdraft, £300 to my sister, £200 rent for my dad, £160 for my direct debits total £920. £200 for cigarettes, £120 for fuel, total now at £1240
On top of that we need food, possibly £150? So £1390.
My wage is normally about £1396, so I will have £6 to pay to my credit card  Also means I don't have a spare penny to put into my holiday fund, was trying to put £20 a month by for our one night away in September. Ah well.
Need to get a plan together. Need to sell stuff, ebay stuff, need to clear out and batten down the hatches!
I can do this. I can do this, I can do this. I will not fail. I will not fail. I will not fail. I will be debt free so I can start a family with my wonderful husband. I will not fall off the wagon, I will stay on and ride it out til the end!!Can't think of anything smart to put here...0 -
            Morning Zepsgal.
I can't believe I am going to say it, as its so typical of MSE.
BUT.........If you packed in smoking you would have £200 spare
:o:o:o:o. Sorry hun. But I could'nt keep it in
.
I am not a smoker, but my hubby is. And he hates it when I come out with stuff like that, because he says I have NO CLUE how hard it is to give up.
So tell me to shut up if I have annoyed you as much as it annoys my dh .
At least it looks like you will kill off the rest of your overdraft if you are careful in February. Or you could just be a tiny bit in your OD and then have abit to save for the holiday. (Not very MSE but hey)
March will be easier for you because you won't have the £250 odd to pay off the OD. So hang in there hun, it will get easier xxx0 -
It's my DH that smokes, not me, or it would be gone already :rotfl:
He knows that he needs to give up but.... He just hasn't yet. I've pointed out that if he gave it up, we could save £200 a month, thats £2400 :eek: To put it into terms he understands, thats a new guitar AND a holiday to Italy every year :eek:Can't think of anything smart to put here...0 -

Aaah sorry hun, I thought it was you. Yes I also have a stubborn hubby that refuses to give up.
Is there any chance you can get him on Roll-ups? My hubby makes roll-ups with a filter and they cost only £9.50 per packet a week.
(Cheap Golden virginia from France
). If you ask about there's always someone selling hooky baccie :rotfl:.
I know how hard it is trying to talk these men into things, so I understand.
