Still waiting on my BACS clearing, but sent the payment from my bank account to the credit card anyway. Managed to get the faster payment set up, had to call the bank cos I just coudn't work out how to do it :o All sorted now :)

Credit card is now at £2810.38 :T Minimum payment is due 14/02, think it's £29-ish. Think I will try and change the payment date to the first few days of the month, I don't like bills coming out the middle of the month.

In other news, going to have to send DH to Tesco today  Realised last night that we have no pasta, potatoes or chips. How am I supposed to have a dinner without any of those?? Will text him a list, he is generally very good at sticking to it. As long as he stays away from the fresh olives we will be alright!

Also trying to find something to spend my £20 birthday money on. DH says I am absolutely not allowed to buy food with it or spend it on paying debt, I have to buy myself something with it. Hmmm, no idea what to buy :)

  • Hi Zepsgal,

Hubby is right saying you must buiy yourself something nice with it.

Just a few ideas - Nice book , Cook book, Big box of chocolates, Magazine subscription, Manicure, yummy takeaway, necklace.

Hehe I am very good at spending other peoples money :o.

Hope you find something nice, otherwise save it up for something else you might want.

Mmmnnn a box of chocolates... Sounds like a good idea!

I could really do with a facial, my skin has been horrible the last week or so (Dh says I'm mad, my skin is fine, but it's not!). Don't think I can get an Elemis or Darphin facial for £20 though :(

Might buy some fabric or some more buttons, something that I can use to make some presents for family birthdays. But that's not something for 'me', even though I love crafting :o

In other news, my £70.70 cashback has disappeared  Yesterday when I sent my £60.60 to bacs payment, my £70.70 cashback was showing up as £0.00. I emailed them today about it, just waiting to hear back now :(

Just back from tesco. Spent £26.45, so technically over budget as I planned on £30 a week for me and dh and £30 for the month for the dogs, but £4.78 of that was out the dogs budget. So not that much over my food budget.

We have meal planned til Saturday so won't be spending another penny til at least then. Bought enough dog treats to last the month. Will buy dog food on Saturday, it's £25 for the bag and I have a £3 off when I spend £20, so £22 for the bag.

Feeling quite happy with all that. Meal planned, wrote a list and stuck to it. Only extra was cheese, which I should have put on the list anyway. :)

Got a reply from topcashback, asking to confirm how many transactions I have had with the retailer. Feeling rather nervous about the whole think, I don't understand how it can show up as confirmed at £70.70 and then just change back to £0.00??

Just looking again at finances as they are now and how they would be when/if I buy my dad's house.

Basing this on my wage only, as I always do, and not adding in figures in any way shape or form for cigarettes.

We were planning on taking an extra £10k on the mortgage to decorate the house, fix the leaks and put in a new kitchen and bathroom etc. On my second SOA I'm basing that on using the £10k to pay off all the debt. Not sure that's the best way to do that but, I'm just looking at different figures.

Trying to keep on track with all my budgets. Bit difficult when DH is buying food out of his own money, saying I can 'give him it back' at some point. It would be helpful if he kept receipts rather than saying 'buy me 20 cigarettes and we will call it quits'

Still, dog food and treats has been bought for the month. Dinner for the rest of this week is sorted, might need some frozen peas or something, but not yet.

We had a lovely day out on Saturday. Me, DH, our best friend and the two dogs piled into our car and drove up the Campsie Fells. We stopped just down from a forest, parked up and went for a walk. The path was all snowy, we let the dogs off lead to run ahead of us, just wonderful! Out in the wilderness for a few hours, then it started to get a bit too cold for us all, so we headed back to the car. We had taken a packed lunch, some ciabatta bread, olives, some sliced beef and homemade coleslaw, it was lovely! Really nice to just do something we haven't done for ages, spending only the fuel to get there. Dogs were exhausted afterwards, spend the rest of the night sleeping :)

    Morning Diary,

Just checked the bank again, not looking too bad. Taking away the one DD left to come off, taking away my fuel and food budget, we have £170 left.

Not sure about my credit card payment though. It's saying minumum payment is due by 14/02, and I made a payment a few days ago of £60. But if I've set up a direct debit for the minimum payment, that will still come out even if I've made a payment, won't it?

If that's right, then we have about £140 left after everything is taken out.

DH painted the hall yesterday, it's looking fantastic! Need to get a new bit of carpet or something for the floor and two light shades. Wondering wether to buy them this month out of the £140, just so the hall is totally finished, or do without?
