Starting again, again...

Well, this is my second diary :o

I've let the other one fade out, I was all over the place, I didn't really know what I was doing.

This time I need to focus. Focus on each day, one day at a time, not on the end goal. I can't plan for my future, I keep losing focus on what is at hand. Spending on things I want, not realising that each purchase is pushing me further and further back.

So, here I go again! :j

I am a 28year old married woman with two gorgeous dogs, my babies :o I owe about £3500 over two cards, both at 0% for another few months. I'm paying back a £12000 loan to my sister at £300 a month. I will do a soa and post it up soon. DH is full time at college. He is looking for a part time job but there is nothing available at the moment.

Hopefully this will keep me on track. You lot are fantastic, you can help me, shout at me, hug me or smack me, I'm a big girl, I can take it :rotfl:

  • Welcome back Zepsgal, I think you will find your your story is a familiar one to alot of us. Think I have had about 3 Lightbulb Moments in that last 10 years .

But I think we all get to a certain age and maturity and decide that this has to STOP.

Well done for biting the bullet and coming back. Your debt amount isnt unsurmountable and can easily be banished with abit of effort. Much better to tackle it now instead of when you get to 17K like me :(.

Good luck, post on here every day, search through the threads everyday, join some challenges and keep inspired.

    Thank you StressedSteph!

I think that's part of the problem, my debt isn't that much. I see others on here with +£50k debts, PDL's etc and think, well I'm not that bad :o

Since my sister paid off my credit cards I've bought things I didn't need, an iPad cos I wanted one, a guitar for dh cos he wanted one, a takeaway cos I didn't want to stand in my freezing kitchen to make dinner :o

Well no more! I want to buy this house, I want to start a family, I want to holiday in Italy every year. I need to make changes, start to realise that I can do this, I can change and be a better person! I can and I will!!

    Afternoon all :)

Was out last night delivering takeaways, made just under £85 :j

Spent £25 in Aldi today, got loads of veg, reduced sausages which I've portioned up and put into the freezer, cereal for work, other stuff that I can't remember but nothing that we didn't 'need' :T

Dh needs fuel for the car, maybe £25, that leaves me £35 to put into the bank on Monday. Still not enough to get me out the overdraft, but I'm getting there.

Going to try on a pair of boots I bought weeks ago on eBay. They were a bit tight, so if they are still tight I'm sticking them back onto eBay tonight. Hopefully this will get me over £80 :T

Making a pot of spicy lentil soup, that will do me and my boss for lunch Mon, Tues and Wed. Boss will buy lunch Thursday and Friday. I've got £4 in my purse, that will get me some bread to have with my soup (maybe the odd cake :o). Won't need any food for home, so £4 max spending for the next 5 days!

  • Hi Zepsgal,

Sounds like you earned a decent amount on the delivery job.

How come you have to feed your boss? or are you just being kind?. I would be mean and then that would make the soup last longer, but you are probably a nicer person than me :o.

It will be great if you can re-sell the boots for £80. Fantastic.

Enjoy the last of the weekend xxx

Well my boss is my sister, and she can't cook lol
I make something then she buys in lunch the other two days. Friday is Chip Shop Friday for us, we get a supper from the local chippie :) the soup or pasta I make costs me about £3 at most to last us the three days, she spends about £10-£12 feeding us for 2 days :o

Just realised Jumanji is on tv, going to have to drag myself away from the tv to get things done :rotfl:

    ^^^^^ are you me?:rotfl:

This is my problem - I've been reasonably good recently (have still been spending but stuff for the house... rather than handbags & purses:o) but I'm starting to get bored being in the house and I've been looking at some things I really shouldn't online in the past few days ..... have held out so far but :eek::eek: I can feel myself slipping

I want a tablet and one of the wee handheld Dysons with the extension tube:o - as the Dyson's really, really:eek: expensive, I've found myself trying to tell myself that buying the tablet would be OK :eek:

    Evening all

Tried on my boots again last night. DH said they weren't too tight, I just need to break them in. So I'm keeping them. Tbh they are a lovely pair of boots, good thick sole, made from leather with a furry lining - http://www.cloggs.co.uk/invt/8402
Although I paid less than half that from eBay!
All my other shoes/boots are from Primark, so these ones really will last me for years.

Spent £1 in the pound shop today buying another metal money tin. Determined not to to open this one til it's full of silver coins! Keeping my 1p's and 2p's in a seperate jar.

Have claimed about £32 from TCB, getting it as amazon vouchers, so that will buy my nephew a ps3 game for his Christmas.

Still waiting on just over £80 to go to 'claim', was really hoping for that ASAP to buy the last of my Christmas presents. Hurry up TCB!

Just checked my clubcard vouchers, have £22.50 to spend. Was hoping to double up and buy dog food, but that wasn't a category this time :( Might use them to buy SIL and BIL a christmas present, I saw a nice Costa mug and coffee set last week. Don't know yet though.

Feeling a lot more positive today. Got lots going on with this house, need to make some serious decisions about our future here. I rent this house from my dad, he is retiring in April and me and DH are wanting to buy it from him. Have discussed this with dad, he is happy to take £20k less than the value of the house, which would allow me to get an £80k mortgage, £70k for dad and him giving me the other £10k to do work to the house. Parts of this house are falling apart, I don't even think £10k will cover the work that needs doing :o I don't know what to do. Need to seriously look at our budget, looking more long term rather than month to month as I do just now.

Anyway, it's getting late and I'm waffling :rotfl:

Well, I've just done my monthly budget.

All my bills, including car insurance, pet insurance (for one dog, still need to get the puppy insured :o), broadband, phone bill etc is £208.37 each month.
I pay my sister £300 to pay off the money she loaned me.
I pay my dad £200 a month to cover the bills (gas, electric, council tax and home phone line). This £200 I know doesn't even cover the bills :o. His mortgage is paid off, so he is effectively letting me live here for next to nothing.
Total amount on DD's and payments = £708.37. This includes a min payment to Virgin of £25, and no payment to Argos card ( 0% ends in Feb :()

Looking ahead to when I eventually buy the house from him (which is looking less and less likely now) -
    Bills same as before £208.37
    Mortgage £510, council tax £85.40, gas £70, electric £70, phone line rental £15?, building/contents insurance £15? = £765.40
Total is £1232.00 per month. Before I buy food, fuel etc or even make a payment to my argos card or a more than minimum payment to my CC.

    Oh and I earn approx £1400 a month :(

If I don't buy the house off dad in April when he retires, he is happy for me to still live there, I will just have to take over paying the bills. ATM he pays £70 dd to gas and same again to the electric, which is more than the monthly bills (not by much, but still more). Council tax for our house is £854 a year, and then I would need to pay for a phone line. I've not discussed it directly with him, but I'm sure he would want some sort of 'rent' from me as well as me paying all the bills. Possibly £200?
That would mean I don't pay a mortgage or building insurance, so my bills would be £440.40 a month for the house.

    So £440.40 house and £208.37 dd's and £300 sister = £948.77
Then need to pay credit card, argos card, food, fuel, haircuts, birthday presents etc etc etc.

    I'm screwed :(
