  • Hi Zepsgal

DO you have any siblings? If (god forbid) anything happens to your dad, what would happen? Would the house go to you or would it have to be sold and be split between siblings. If this is the case you could be left without a home.

What about spending the next year, REALLY zapping your debts and then buy the house from your dad?. I know it would still be tight but definately do-able.

P.s Think you missed Water from your list.

I think water is included in the council tax cos I'm in Scotland. I'm sure it is.... I hope it is! :rotfl:

I'm one of 5, dad has things set up so all his assets are split equally between us 5 and his girlfriend. I would hope that my family wouldn't kick me out onto the streets if anything happened to dad. But....., well, there is never any guarantees, is there?

I spoke to the mortgage guy at the bank the other day, explaining about me having money on my credit cards. He said if I was worried I would get declined due to the money on CC's, it could be made a condition of the mortgage that they are paid before completion.

Long story, but basically the house is valued at £90k. I don't need a deposit as they are classing it as a 'concessionary mortage' as I'm buying off my dad. Dad wants £70k for the house. I want a mortgage of £80k, all of which will be paid to dad then he is giving me £10k back which I would use to fix the house up, new kitchen etc. but, if he were to pay of my cc first, clearing the £3.5k, it would leave me £6.5k to do the work needed. This really isn't enough, but neither is £10k :(

And even if the CC's were paid off, it would only save me £25 a month as that's all I'm paying just now! Still couldn't afford the house and to eat each month!

Oh man, I'm in such a muddle. Dh is on the laptop just now looking for a part time job, that's a start!

    Evening all :)

LSD day today, bag of dog food on offer for £3.25, then 25% off with their 3 day offer on dog food :j that will feed my two for a week or so. Picked up the wrong one though, picked up a bag of big dog puppy food... Wonder if it will make my two Lhasa apsos grow huge :rotfl:
Also got some diluting juice, me and dh have stopped buying fizzy juice at home. Been stopped for a few weeks now, we're were drinking 1-2litres of fizzy juice each day  must have cost us £40-£50 a month, bloody shocking!

Currently lying on the couch with pjs on, fleecy socks, housecoat, throw and the two dogs, lovely and warm :)

Friday tomorrow :j was hoping for the day off work to get the last of my Christmas shopping, but it's far too busy to get time off. Ah well, will do it later :)

I got some cat food (forgot about the 25% off or would've bought more:(). If something's on offer, the 25% comes off the FP amount :) so it may be worth stocking up if you can.

Re the house.... I can see your pickle but before you write it off totally - surely your OH will be contributing? Even if the house / mortgage etc is in your name, he'll be helping towards costs....

There was only one bag of that dog food on the shelf or I would have grabbed the lot :rotfl:

I know dh will help out with money, but.... Over the years it's been sporadic. Working for a year or two then paid off, new job for 8 months then paid off, unemployed for 3 months, new job, paid off again. It's just his industry, it's unpredictable. Now he is at college doing what he has always wanted to do, but it will be a while before he can make money from it.

I always base my income and what I can afford on what I earn, that way I know exactly how much we have. Right now anything he brings in is a bonus, it buys new socks or pays for a repair to the car :)

Nsd day today :j Making bolognese for dinner, defrosted some mince yesterday, will use the free dolmio sauce and free pasta I got a few months ago :)
Can't believe it's the first of December already! Really frosty here today, was lucky I kept my boots as they were brilliant out on the icy pavements. Had a chuckle at the puppy sliding about though, first time he has been on icy ground, he didn't know what was happening :rotfl:

Ooooh I'm loving the snow we are having :j Puppy isn't really sure about it, but my 5 year old loves the snow, she runs about and jumps in it :rotfl:

Took them out tonight and found 12p in our driveway Woop! Walked up past the school and found 25p, what's going on with people dropping money? Lol! Put my 37p into my sealed jar :)

Joined the virtual sealed pot challenge for 2013. Have £3 odds in there already :) need to sort out a savings account not linked to my online banking, I don't want to see the balance every time I log on :)

Got some packs of thorntons oat/chocolate thingies handed in to work today, plus a tin of celebrations. Really want to open them all, but will resist and regift them for Christmas :money: the thorntons ones will go as part as my movie hampers for my brother and DH's sister :)

Found out that my dad doesn't like chocolate covered toffee, and there is two packs of them in the hamper I bought him for Christmas :(
Then my sister says that her boyfriend loves chocolate toffee.. Jackpot! Two packs will be taken out the hamper and given to him with his DVD (bought with Swagbucks/amazon vouchers!)

Me and dh are off to ikea tomorrow, hoping to be one of the first 25 at the door so we get a free Christmas tree :j if not we will get one of the £25 ones that come with a £20 voucher to spend in store Woop!

Got half a squash and a bag of reduced parsnips that need using up, need to find a recipe for a soup or something. And make bread using a free bread mix I have, nice warming and filling lunch :)

  • Evening Zepsgal,

Good luck tomorrow with the Christmas tree, get your elbows out ready.

I hope you know your way around to run straight to the Christmas tree section. I have only been to IKEA twice and found it really confusing and did'nt think I would ever find my way out. (Think I have been living in the countryside too long :o).

Soup sounds good with your left over veg, stick abit of anything in to boil with some stock, blitz it up, it will be lovely. HM bread too yum yum.

Have a great weekend. will look in again soon xxxx

I am glad to see someone else on here who picks up change in the street! I get the funniest looks when I bend down to pick up 2ps. It's free money, what's wrong with them?! :D
    Barclaycard [STRIKE] £2770 [/STRIKE] now £2690.
    O/D £500. Weight loss: 12/28lbs :o Savings owed [STRIKE] £3000 [/STRIKE] now £2250 :( Total debt: [STRIKE] £6760 [/STRIKE] now £5440
  • Hope you're on your way to I*kea and you get a free tree!

Even if not - a net cost of £5 isn't too bad .... providing you do actually need one in the first place of course!

I never have any luck with roadkill in the street - was on another thread the other day and someone found £10 and someone else £2 .... I never do!!!

    Must try harder!

    Have a lovely day :)
