There's a PAP2 and a PAP2T this could be where there is a tittle difference in the firmware revisions.

The Firmware I have uploaded is for the PAP2.

The previously Vonage locked ones are often sold on eBay, online retailers sell either Vonage locked ones (though I think Vonage has switched to different ATAs now) or Generic unlocked ones, they state which.

There are good sellers selling Generic Unlocked devices, these are simply devices that Linksys supplied for retail. Linksys just also supplied Vonage with devices too, but locked them to their service.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!

Thanks for the explanation, can I ask if there is a way to check which one I have? I'd like to know if its generic unlocked or not. It was bought off ebay from a UK seller, though its a PAP2-NA (North America), any way to find out out if it was ever locked to Vonage in the past? It certainly came as new in retail box, the other attachments still in unopened plastic bags.

    Just curious to know.

I don't think there is, the only way you will know is if you do a factory reset and can no longer use it unless it's with that provider.

Don't take the chance and set Provision Enable = NO

    OK thank you.

Provision Enable is now set to 'no', but it was online and working for 24hrs or so with this set to 'yes', and no harm done.

For some reason I wasn't getting notifications on this thread, though was previously.

    Hi,

I have just bought one of these linksys VOIP boxes via ebay (delivery from HK).

I will be connecting my Panasonic DECT phone through VirginMedia cable broadband, with the intention of getting rid of my landline eventually.

I am presuming I will need a special cable to connect the phone to the box? Where can I get one from...Maplin?

Is there a quick "how to" guide any where?

I have been looking around and voipstunt looks like the best carrier so far on price.

I will be needing to ring the USA for about n average of 1-2 hours a week. Sometimes the calls can last 2-3 hours. Will I need to put the phone down after an hour and ring again like I have to on BT?

    Sorry for all the questions!

    Thanks,
    k0sh.

No special cable just have to make sure it is wired correctly there are standards but they are not all the same.

    See BexTech post HERE

    And my post HERE

If you read this thread from the start you will be well equiped for getting started.

As for what provider I have no clue and in fact I recently asked the same question to BexTech.

Nope, I just followed Bextechs and edited it a little at a time but not much.

This is what I ended up with:
    (*xx|0|00|<0:0044>[1-8]xx.|<:01275>[3]xxxxx|<:00441275>[2-8]xxxxxx|xx.)

    01275 = My Area Code.

Seems to work OK, so try changing 01275 to your code and leave everything else as is.
