i have had an account with halifax bank and i have been charge on 3 occasions late fees of 28 pounds as my money didnt go in the bank till the day after ,as im not sure what to do and i know the money should have been in hen the debit was due i have just autmatically payed it.just looked at my account im now been charged another 28 pounds as im only 24p withdrawn this is through the charges i have made and not been covered nough money in the account.im so annoyed that i have now paid another 28 pounds and made sure there is enough money in and im going to close this account
i know its my fault the money was not in but for a day late its ridiculous.as i was 24p overdrawn is there any way they could get the money without me putting it in .sorry if this sounds all confusing

    Hiya,

If this is the first time you have been overdrawn you could ask them nicely if they will refund them?? I did this with Halifax well i actually rang and said i wasnt paying the charges as i did it was my first time being over drawn with them and they said they would refund the last three charges i had.

  • Hi - I have been having issues with Halifax for over a year now and would like to know if anyone has asimilar problems with them.
I have had 2 bank charges reversed previously ( one when I was 57pence over my limit) and one similar amount- these were both last year.
I have JUST received another charge of £65 for being 55pence over my overdraft
limit and unfortunately it was unforeseen becasue interest was debited which pushed it over. I discussed the 55pence overlimit with them to which the answer I received (and heard before) is there are 3 strikes allowed and you have used them up (they explained another instance where they used it).
Now the probelm for me is that I try my damdest to keep within as I don't like to give the banks even the opportunity to charge me but it is unfortunate it has happened on 2 occasions and I not a bad debtor - they will not refund - I said I would like to take it further and they suggested their customer service will call back.
Has anyone had any similar experiences and any advice on this?

i have made a claim for my current account charges and halifax have replied with a fair offer however they say that money they do give us MUST come off my credit card balance which is not even the account i am claiming from , i do owe the card money but i am paying it monthly can halifax force me to do this or can i demand a cash payment.

at end of the day why should halifax tell me how to spend money they owe me

    thanks:p

i had some charges reversed early last year. since then i have asked for further charges to be reversed ( about £800) but told because of the test case they will not be paying out. its so different now, as to just over a year ago when i got nearly £4000 from barclays. much easier then.
on the 31st of may halifax hit me with a charge of £28 "as notified" so they say. i NEVER received any such notification of this charge but yet i have done for EVERY other previous charge.
i called them and was told this charge came from 3rd APRIL. nearly 2 MONTHS ago. i received a leter today saying that they had investigated the charge and found nothing wrong. i called today and was told that they are not under any obligation to inform me of ANY charges.
seems to me they can charge us for what they bloody like when they like and we can do nothing about it.

I'm no expert in things really but i do have 36 years of experience in life, and some of those years fighting off bailiffs.
Nicknamed Victor Meldrew among friends as i love to complain;)
