I think we should start a petition, play the banks own game,I mean they take a lot in charges, never give you the service you expect, cash machines seem to be empty at the busiest times,(friday and saturday nights) then they dont pay half the interest they brag about in their TV ads.
So why cant we as 'valuable customers' be treated as such?
And I was thinking about getting another account, trouble is I have another at the halifax ( yes thats 2 accounts there) and one from my work ( Bank of England - but they dont have any kind of service or any branches, they only have 2 atms for staff). which I'm going to be closing soon anyway.

I've written to the Bank of Scotland to reclaim my credit card charges for the last 6 years. They replied within 2 weeks and have offered me the difference between the charges and the £12 fee, not the full refund.
Has anyone-else had this experience? I'm inclined to go for the full refund but not sure I've the energy for a long fight .... (my health is not great - but that's one of the reasons I need the money).
Anyone had a full refund from the BoS?0 -
Anyone had a full refund from the BoS?
I've no doubt some claimants have received a full refund from BoS. Whether you wish to pursue the full amount is a personal decision. If you haven't reed Martin's Credit Card Reclaim guide, please see below:

I suspect when the whole thing is sorted, £12 will be about the allowed amount, so people won't be getting more than the difference.
I think those that expect to get it all, maybe a little deluded.
Not sure what you mean by the 'whole thing is sorted'?
The OP is talking about Credit Cards, the OFT have already published their findings on this.0 -

Yes, I have read this thanks - and used his template letters. Really useful.
I'm just after personal experiences - whether anyone on the Board has pursued the full amount from Bank of Scotland and won.0 -
Hi all,
I'm new to this forum. Recently I too became a victim of unfair charges by Hallifax. I was on holiday and forgot to cancel 2 standing orders and this pushed my overdraft limit past the agreed £1000 by £13 (i.e. my account was -£1013) when I came back. I promptly received a letter from Halifax saying that I was over my agreed overdraft limit and was charged a 'Paid Item Charge' of £35 and and 'Unauthorised overdraft charge' of £28. Which means a total of £63 for going £13 over the limit. I spoke to the customer advisor and was told that they cannot do anything about the charges. I'm wonder if I can contest these charges? Is there any way to get part of my money back? Please do advise what course of action I should take. I hardly ever make use of the overdraft limit and £63 is a lot of money.
Please do advise, any help will be greatly appreciated
P.S sorry for the long post0 -
I don't know how to proceed, I just received a letter from Halifax saying that they are sorry that I'm dissatisfied with the service but they won't budge on the charges. Do you know what next steps I could take?0

Anyone please? I know perhaps this has already been discussed at length on some other post. If so, can you please point me to it? Or even where to get started?0

It's nice to know that while this is a case going through the channels , everybody is wondering who's right and who's wrong, that the banks ARE STILL charging people .
You'd think that they would have had the common sense or at least decency to say ' Hang on , we're not sure so we'd better stop charging until its sorted one way or they other' but NO they still want their piece of pie from you:mad:    :mad:0 -
I tried to claim back over £1600 in charges from HBOS last year. In July, I received a letter stating that they had put £888 into my account, but that this would be in full and final settlement. If I wanted to accept, to do nothing, but if I wanted to reject the offer, I should return the money and await the outcome of the court case. As there was a lot going on in my life at that time, I did nothing, and since then, have spent the £888. Does this now mean that I cannot pursue HBOS for the remaining half of my claim (plus further charges since then)?
Any advice gratefully received.0
