    Hi

I made a claim for my bank charges over a month ago and received a standard response from HBOS telling me about their appeal etc. As I am a student, I requested they repay this immediately as per the FSA waiver. They stated there is no indication that I am in financial hardship and enclosed an Income and Expenditure form to complete, which I did.

The problem is I closed this account a few years ago and as I haven't heard anything back from them, I'm worried it may go missing in the post.

I contacted HBOS today to confirm if they received it and the advisor said he can't check and I would need to wait for a bit longer before contacting again as he didn't know what else to do.

Does anyone have any advice on which dept. I should contact or where to go to find out what's going on?

    Thanks

Halifax have a new bill paying procedure.
Used to be you could pay a bill online to any other organisation, it went out your account straight away, so obviously, if the money wasnt there you couldnt pay it.

Guess what, now, it goes out of your account the next working day, so in my case, my partner used the account for a Debit card payment and the balance left wasnt sufficient.

Hence for a £16 bill payment that would have gone straight out, I get a £35 charge!!

    They are truly a disgrace.
They have started this new procedure just to catch out people like me and it works, its like printing your own money.

    I truly hate them!
    Sorry, but its true.

I know I can claim it back, but its so very annoying

I have 2 accounts with Halifax (1 I no longer use). I have records of about £350+ letters of bank charges - where they notify you that you will be charged.

I think there is probably more charges than this, as I'm sure I didn't keep all the letters.

Will I need to send 2xletters and 2x £10 cheques, or just 1 for both accounts?

Also, where do they stand on closing your accounts after claiming now? I also now have a credit card with them which I'd prefer wasn't closed.

    Yes list both a/c no's

lso, where do they stand on closing your accounts after claiming now?
They do not routinely close a/c's
I also now have a credit card with them which I'd prefer wasn't closed.
Again unlikely, but they could reduce the credit limit
  • Hi

Quite sure this been asked before but humour me please...

I put my claim in last year with HBOS and have since had the letter saying it's all on hold etc etc.

I've since been charged more unlawful charges and am not sure what to do; do I need to put in a new claim? Or do new charges get rolled onto the claim when and if the outcome of the court case is what we desire?

    Hi therealslimcj

I may be wrong and if I am someone with more knowledge will correct me.

If your claim has gone as far as filing at court, then, when the test case is finished or the waiver is lifted, which ever comes first, you should be able to submit a revised POC but I think you will have to pay a fee to do so,

If it is still at the letter writing stage the you should send a new LBA with a revise spread sheet that includes all the previously claimed charges and the new charges.

Personally I would advise that if you haven't filed yet at court then you should do as soon as possible because when all this is resolved your claim will be dealt with quicker than if it is just at the letter writing stage and also all the time it is on hold it is attracting interest at the 8% stat rate unless your claim includes CCI

Hi over 2 weeks ago I sent the letter from this site to Halifax, claiming 1045.00 in charges and stated hardship as I have just taken a 2k drop in wages with a new job.

I haven't had a reply, response or acknowledgement of any description, does anyone have any ideas what I should do next? This is all new to me and need the cash like a lot of people the credit crunch is really hitting me hard.

    thanks

If read Martin's guide it states the next process to follow. Remember you are not dictated by the bank but it is you in charge. The likelyhood of resolution is unlikely this year as only Hardship claims are being dealt with at the moment.

I finally got around to claiming my £500 odd from Bank of Scotland and today got a 2 page letter from them saying that my letter has been filed and as soon as they have a proper ruling from the high court they will then take action.

Do I just sit and wait now or is there something else I can do - they are still charging £35 and £28 for payments and overdrafts (i thought that was now to be no higher than £12).

Anyone got any money out of HBOS yet?

I've written to the Bank of Scotland to reclaim my credit card charges for the last 6 years. They replied within 2 weeks and have offered me the difference between the charges and the £12 fee, not the full refund.

Has anyone-else had this experience? I'm inclined to go for the full refund but not sure I've the energy for a long fight .... (my health is not great - but that's one of the reasons I need the money).

Anyone had a full refund from the BoS?

I received a letter today offering me the difference between the old £25 charge and the current £12 charge. They've refused to add interest.

I only received an acknowledgement of my claim on Wednesday, so they've really got their skates on with this offer :rotfl:

I shall be writing back accepting (without prejudice) their offer in partial settlement of my claim.

Will keep you posted as to whether they tell me to get lost.
