I paid it in online, transferred it from a savings a/c. I've done this before, over the counter on the same day, and they've been all right about it though.0

Actually, £15 would signify an 'easycash' account? If so, condition 19.5 of your T&C's will apply (and not the condition I posted earlier). Although this condition says the same thing, maybe their policy is to always refuse under your particular circumstances.
Note: You were sent revised T&C's in November 2007 and condition 19.5 now contains "new wording"...which might explain why you haven't been charged before?...unless you've made the same error of judgement between last November and now?0 -
Last time I did it on the same day was September, so you may be right. I'll argue the toss anyway.0

Hi,
I've just sent a letter to Halifax (using one of the many templates available). I have recently been charged £98 for going over my overdraft limit by a mere £1.60, for the space of a few hours. The reply they sent stated that if I "...chose to issue a claim in the Courts, the bank would immediately apply to the Court for an order to stay my action until resolution of the bank's proceedings with the OFT".
I know it may not be that much to reclaim, but it seems ludicrous to charge £98 for going over the limit for £1.60. Is it worth applying to the Courts (ie. can the bank obtain a "stay"), or is it a bluff?0 -

Unfortunately it's not a bluff, please read the articles in my signature for more details.
If they refuse to refund as a gesture of goodwill, you should still put in your claim anyway, so that's it registered.0 -
Hi all,
wonder if i could get some advice on bank charges and wether the ones i incurred are excessive ,
i went over my overdraft of £1200 for a couple of days while waiting for my monthly salary to go in,
i got charged £35 for every transaction or direct debit that was made , (but only up to 3 per day!)
so 9 transactions x 35 + 28 other charge = £343
one of the transactions was a £2 direct debit to sight savers!
Is it worth complaining to Halifax or is this pretty normal charges?
any advice would be good
thanks

give them a ring and check what they will refund - otherwise send a letter claiming all bank charges back as illegal....you will be told that your request will be placed on hold due to the FSA agreement and then just hold on until the OFT kicks all banks bums.....0 -
Hi all ,
I reclaimed my bank charges last year from the halifax which was great.,but i had a letter from them today telling me they had paid a direct debit which took me over my limit and were charging me £35 plus £28 for being over my overdraft. i telephoned them to ask if the could waive the charges as my wages were paid in the day later and the told me no as i have taken legal action and when i accepted the gesture of goodwill i was agreeing not to claim anymore charges.
has this happened to anyone else if so any advice
Thanks !!!0 -

Did you? What did the acceptance letter say?
They certainly won't refund any further charges as a gesture of good will.0
