Hi i just asked the same question. I have 2 bos accounts and they told me to wait for the statements for both accounts and then send them together as they will not return the money for both accounts. I think they are stalling for time, if they could get away with that they would be able to refuse money for all accounts. the money was taken out of both accounts unlawfully by the banks so i dont see why they can only refund one account and no other ones

Hi all, need some advice. I'm at the stage of getting concerned about taking HBOS to court. I received the standard letter saying that they have 8 weeks to deal with my complaint that was 5 weeks ago. I sent another letter recorded delivery saying I would accept 75% of my claim £1291. I then received a letter saying that they were still dealing my complaint and would hear the outcome of their investigation before 10th May. My concern is: is this a response to my offer of partial settlement or another standard letter? I'm tempted to wait till the 10th of May for their response but should I get the courts on to their !!!?? Please help

Well lm getting to the stage where lm teed of with the HBOS. lve went through all the process and recieved no reply from them at any stage. l found out that they actually closed my account. l am ready to take this to court for failure to provide the breakdown of charges but l would like to know how to word it. lm in Scotland.

I suspect that they are stalling, I am still waiting for statements on my Bill Payment Account, and as a result will have to put in two seperate claims.

I would be interested to hear what anyone who has put in two claims for different accounts has to say on this. I would also read the exact wording of any settlement letter that they send to make sure that they are not being sneaky in any way.

I'd ask them why they have decided to close the account down and contact the banking onbudsman regarding this. As for the wording I'd contact the Citizens Advice Bureau and get their advice.

i am a bit confused.. i sent on 27th feb for my bank of scotland visa statements. i got a call last wednesday from halifax cust. services saying they were having problems locating my file, lady took my mobile number and said she would phone back. on the thursday when i was at work, a lady called and spoke to my mum saying it was important she spoke with me and when best to call back. my mum said friday a.m. Friday morning I got a call at 10am, lady from Halifax Cust services, said could I confirm my sort code, which I gave her for my current a/c. She said thanks, bye!! Today I got a call, different person, asking what statements did I want, visa or current account? I have already successfully claimed for my current a/c. Just checked my letter sent, it has all relevant details on it, so i dont see why they need to keep phoning me. Any ideas?

I have followed the advice given on how to reclaim my bank charges, after a 4 week wait I recieved a letter giving me my default charges, I used the template given and added interest then sent it by registerd post to my bank. Today i recieved a letter which states that having fully considered my request they are unable to make a refund, under the terms and conditions of the bank account the bos can levy charges when there are unsifficient funds to cover items. It goes on to say it trusts customers understand these conditions and that I entered into a legally binding contract and that the bos has not made an error.

Do I continue or give up...... these charges were all for unpaid dd and a couple of cheques.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Go to the consumeractiongroup website and download the papers to take to court. Pay your fee to the court and let it happen. You'll prob get a chq in the post the day before the court date.....that's how it happened for me. Don't give up, you'll get your money. Have you registered with the consumeractiongroup website? They've forums for all the banks on there. There are forum administrators who will help you when you post a question.

This is a standard letter from the bank, all the banks are sending out the same! You now need to send off the second letter saying you will take them to court in 14 days.

Just an update, the wife phoned up today and requested where the bank charges statements were? They said they don't have any record of any request by letter.

Anyway, the wife told them the name of the person who sent the reply letter and they said they will email that person to send out the statements within 14days. Well, the wife replied if you don't we will be taking them to court.

Will inform you what happens.
