Hello all, could someone please tell me what happens next.....
I sent away the first letter asking for my Bank Statements (Registered Post) 41 days ago, I know that the Bank is supposed to get them back to you within 40 days but I have heard nothing....What gives?
Thanks in advance

Report them to the Financial Ombudsman as stated in the letter you'll have sent them requesting the statements.0 -

anyone know why this bank thread has been stickied over the others??
Its been stickied whilst I work on it as the posts from the HBOS thread got merged with the Halifax thread and while not a problem being the same bank a lot of the questions on the HBOS thread pertained to claiming in Scotland.0 -
The monthly £28 service charge that was applied to my account for years - I presume I don't include that in my figures?0
-
Glad you address this as I have those £28.00 charges as well, but not every month??
In the old BOS statements each charge and transaction was outlined but with HALIFAX statements it just says "charges as notified"....
Hope, someone can clarify!
Thanks0 -
Morning all,
Finally recieved the standard letter from the Bank of Scotland aknowledging my claim on my current account over the weekend. :j Only problem is that I am due to take them to MCOL this friday
So to add to the address and phone number confusion the address for Bank of Scotland Customer Relations in Dunfermline (home of my beloved Pars) is
Bank of Scotland
Customer Relations
PO Box 29112
Dunfermline
Tel:- 0845 850 1368
The other problem was that their 40 days for delivering the statements on my bill payment account was up on the 16th of April. I phoned the above number and was sent round the block a couple of times before I got through to them. A very nice gentleman appologised and promised me statements for this account within 7 to 10 days.
I decided not to go to the data commissoner about this because the bank is backlogged with folk reclaiming charges, I don't want to add to their woes by having the data commissoner start adding to their workload, cause I am nice .

Hi Newmoney
As you can see I am new here, and I am starting proceedings against Halifax after they charged me £20 for being overdrawn by £4 for approximately 20 minutes (I pressed the wrong button on a Cash machine, withdrawing £30 instead of £10, and immediately repaid it to my account). I also have £60 in other charges dating from January to March. The March ones would not have occurred if I had been refunded for the January charge, as they previously promised.
Anyway, I might be of help.
Are the £28 charges you have incurred as a result of having an unauthorisd overdraft, or due to an upgrade on your account (e.g. Gold or Premier banking) ? If they have anything to do with being overdrawn (for example on the turn of the month) you can reclaim them in the same way.
Let me know if I can be of any more help.
On another note, I have to say that Halifax are the worst bank I have ever dealt with, I also have accounts with NatWest and Barclays, who do not charge you for goin overdrawn by pennies like Halifax.0 -
Hi Halifax Basher,
I am not sure as on my statments it only says "charges as notified last month".
It's not got to do anything with an upgrade though, it is clearly for me being outside my overdraft, which of course is AFTER they already applied around £90.00 charges for transactions as miniscule as £1.00 3 times.....
Argh... I know what you mean, to make things worse I just had an automated call from them which asked me to confirma personal and account details, they offered me 4 sets of birthday dates to pick from, but none of them was mine, so I hung up as I thought it was a bit dodgy.....0 -
I am in the process of reclaiming bank charges From Halifax and am at 1st letter stage. I received details of all my charges last week and promptly sent 1st letter to my local branch. I received their reply this morning and in it they informed me,
'the complaint handling rules set by our regulator, the Financial Services Authority, gives us 8 weeks to investigate and respond to complaints.'
Until now I have followed Martin's method to the letter but now I am unsure what to. As I see it, I have 2 options
1 - Give them their 8 weeks
2 - Stick to my timetable and send them the court threat letter 2 weeks after the first
Just wish I knew what way would produce the best chance of a speedy and full repayment0 -
Hi Dylan,
even though I cannot help you I wanted to ask you whether you had any £28.00 charges and whether you claimed them?
Also, I cannot get all my charges on the list, it stops addidng after 150th line!
What I am to do??0 -
Newmoney:-
If it is to do with your overdraft, it is likely to be the excess charge that they can impose when your account is beyond its overdraft limit at the turn of the month. As far as I know you can reclaim it with interest.

Ahh, the typical snotty response from this excuse for a bank!
I cannot advise you on this, it is completely up to you what you do. You do not have to be bullied by them and you are perfectly entitled to set the timetable. On one hand it might be worth waiting to avoid the expense, but this could take a while. Good luck!0
