I don't think it is as simple as people say. Why should I just refund him?
You won't get much choice. Its how you deal with it from now on that will likely determine whether you keep your 100% feedback or not (although I fear it may be too late).

S!!t happens on eBay unfortunately. Maybe he has your coat or maybe it really is lost, it doesn't really matter. If you can't prove he has it then ebay/paypal will take the money from you and give it back to the buyer.

You're not the first and certainly won't be the last.

If he leaves a neg I guess he will get his 3rd of the month off me...

    Good luck with that..... :D

You can't leave buyers negative feedback.

PS your eBay knowledge is very lacking as you cant eave negs for sellers and haven't been able to for the best part of 2 years!!

    No, not true.

I just think the system is an easy play from the buyers side. I don't want an argument, just want advice as to how long I should give it. Also, what if the coat turns up? Does anyone have a standard way for dealing with these situations?

Should I ask him to leave it for the full 15 working days RM ask before I can claim?

Absolutely not- that just makes it worse- haven't you read the thread at all.

You have a case open now so buyer is going to get a refund week after next anyway, all you can do now is try and salvage your account as best you can.

I have been repaid by a buyer I had previously refunded (more than once in fact) but then I treat my buyers well and seem to get treated well in return.

    oh dear

Now you see why your buyer has stopped selling and made his feedback private. You can also see why ebay banned sellers from leaving poor feedback.

  • Ok, thanks some of you. Others, really dissapointed with your aggresive tone. I am new to this, I have never had an item "not turn up".

If I issue a refund I can then go on and claim from the Royal Mail after 15 working days then? Correct?

    Yes that is correct.

If people have appeared aggressive it is because you have not listening to the advice you were being given. Many of us have been selling for years and have had an assortment of lost items so know what we are talking about- keep looking for ways round it, whilst stating you were 'new' was doing you no favours.

This is incidentally not just an ebay thing, it is UK law. Wherever you sell you are responsible for getting the goods to your buyer.

Leave the refund now until at least after post is likely to have arrived tomorrow.

  • Ok I will reply to the dispute stating I will refund him by CoP tomorrow after it has not turned up and I have called sorting office.

Sorry but I didn't feel entirely comfortable with the process as I felt a bit like I was being done-over especially as I saw he had 2 negs and I wasn't aware of ebay changing the rules. Still will think twice about posting again here when I get abused by people with 10000000000000000000 posts. Thanks though Sirlon.

Also worth noting you need to refund the full amount your buyer paid INCLUDING P+P. Don't just refund the item cost.
