Coat - Was wrapped in plastic packing with a label attached. This was then wrapped in brown paper with an address written on. This was tirelessly wrapped again and again with tape.
The buyer - Has just issued a dispute, he has set his feedback to "private" and had 59 transactions this month. He joined not too long ago but already has 2 negative feedbacks this month too...
Myself - I have 100% feedback on 46 transactions buying and selling.
I don't think it is as simple as people say. Why should I just refund him? How do we know he doesn't just have the coat and it was left with a neighbour or something? Then he gets the money and the coat. Do they always 100% get them to sign for stuff? 2 negative feedbacks this month alone leave me feeling a bit cautious.
The negs are from selling
it is as simple as people say. no proof of delivery? buyers wins the dispute every time0 -
Ok so how long do I give it before refunding him? This was posted 2nd class recorded on 03/11/12.
This system seems flawed in that anyone with a "friendly posty" that leaves recorded items in certain places without a signature (very common) could do this so easily.
Also, why is his feedback private. Something to hide?Debtfree!0 -
Dear Lord I pray I never come across some of these sellers! Though if I did I certainly wouldn't be claiming from the RM, I'd be leaving a lovely big fat neg, 1 star across the board and raising a claim with paypal.0

Think Pulliptears did a pretty accurate job of describing what is going to happen, actually.
Normally you should be refunding by the end of the week, but seeing as you've managed to antagonise your buyer into raising a dispute already, you may as well do it sooner rather than later and try and save your feedback.0 -
No, not true.
I just think the system is an easy play from the buyers side. I don't want an argument, just want advice as to how long I should give it. Also, what if the coat turns up? Does anyone have a standard way for dealing with these situations?
Should I ask him to leave it for the full 15 working days RM ask before I can claim?Debtfree!0 -

The case is open now so you need to be careful as you've lost any negotiation room. I would try and hold out till Friday this week, but keep in touch with buyer and try and keep them a bit sweet.
If I bought and sold on the same account and came across a seller who was obviously a bit new and a bit cross, I would probably hide away as well as by selling on the same account he bought from leaves him vulnerable to retaliation. By going private it means he can't sell, but you can't track down his previous buyers to do anything underhand.DebtClearer wrote: »And you'dbe sitting in your brand new coat while you did it laughing away.

Exactly this is a forum, so pullip has every right to post if she wishes.
Anyway, I thought you said the item has not tracked- how do you now manage to get to buyer is lying and has the coat?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Oh I'm sorry, I didn't realise you ran this section of the forums and had a say on who posted?
Oh. You dont.
My comment stands. It might not be what you want to hear but you need to be refunding your buyer and claiming from RM.
Getting the item to the buyer is YOUR responsibility. That responsibility doesn't stop when you hand over your parcel.0
