  • See you think you are all right but you are wrong.

I spoke to someone at the RM today and they are only willing to accept claims after 15 working days have past.

Where are we wrong? Royal Mail (as others have pointed out) is NOTHING to do with Ebay.

Ebay do not say 15 days, working or otherwise.

If they've done a paypal claim for Item Not Received they can escalate it 7 days after payment.
Looking at your dates you have to respond by the 22nd but cannot open a Royal Mail claim 'til the 24th as its 15 working days after expected delivery, which for 2nd class is 3 days.

And add to that the length of time they take to pay a claim. Or even worse, the RD shows on the intranet as 'delivered' and the sender loses out as the internet isn't updated.
  • Well it gives me the option to respond with a tracking number. I intend to add the relevant information. I have just sent an ebay message to the husband saying:

    Hi,

I see there is a paypal claim now being made against me. On that basis I understand I need to respond by 22/11/2012. It is my intention to keep monitoring the tracking number and the Dagenham sorting office until 15 working days has passed as the Royal Mail only consider an item lost after that period.

I apologise that the item appears to be lost but I genuinely have tried to resolve this and I am dissapointed a claim has been raised as I have done all in my power with regards to sending the tracking number and regularly checking with your sorting office. I still hope this can be resolved but I will not refund at the moment as if I did and then you recieved the coat I would be unable to make a claim against the Royal Mail for non-delivery.

I will be in touch closer to 22/11/2012. Hopefully it turns up in the meantime.

If by the 22nd tracking still shows as not delivered a full refund will be issued by paypal without your say so..
I should also mention if you are forced to refund ie: you dont do it voluntarily then it will count against you on your expanded dashboard.
  • wow it is incredibly easy to just say something never turned up. What if I didn't sent it recorded and it was lost? It is so easy for buyers just to say they never recieved something...

    Yes, this is true.

But not all buyers are thieves.

Its equally as easy for something to get lost in the post. You seem to have made up your mind from the off that your buyer is scamming you when in reality there is an equal chance that the coat just hasn't turned up.

Its also just as easy for a seller to not post and say oh well rm lost it not my problem..
Whilst there are undoubtably scammers out there , they are in the main a very small minority.
Most buyers are honest, treating them like something you stepped in because they must be scamming you is going to cause friction every time.
  • Does anyone know how to add files to the ebay claim when a claim is made against you?
