Well, I just knew this would all go pear-shaped!
I sent the parcel by TNT tracked and insured - it was collected from me on the 14th November and tracking shows it was delivered in good order on the 16th November and signed for (but the signature name is not the name of the person who bought it)
Now, today, a chargeback has been opened "unauthorised use of credit card" - great!!
So far, Paypal have just asked for the tracking info and are looking into it. I have all the documentation if they want me to scan it and send it to them.
So, what happens now? Will Paypal find in my favour as I sent the item correctly under their terms and conditions? Any idea how long it will take to resolve? It's a lot of money to suddenly be put on hold on my account. Thanks for any help.0 -
Oh dear, your gut feeling was right
Sorry, I haven't got any advice - I'm sure someone knowledgeable will be along soon.I must remember that "Money Saving" is not buying heavily discounted items that I do not need. :hello:0 -

I think they key here is that you need Proof of Postage (not delivery) for a paypal charge back. I didn't notice people telling you this when you posted back in November. May be they should have instead of telling you that you were being over cautious?
My best advice is to call paypal. Log in to your paypal account, go to help, click around a few times until you can see call us and then take it from there. They are extremely helpful on the phone.House saving Targets:

Also, you need to make sure you have complied with the following to make sure you have seller protection:
11.6 Eligibility Requirements
What are the eligibility requirements for PayPal seller protection?
You must meet all of these requirements to be covered:
The item purchased must be a physical, tangible good.
The transaction must be marked by PayPal as eligible or partially eligible for PayPal seller protection on your Account “Transaction Details” page.
If it is marked eligible, protection for both Unauthorised Payments and Item Not Received will apply. If it is marked partially eligible, protection for only Item Not Received will apply.
Items sold on eBay will be marked eligible even if the shipping address is marked unconfirmed. Generally, items sold on websites other than eBay will be marked eligible if the shipping address is marked confirmed and partially eligible (that is, eligible for Item Not Received only) if the shipping address is marked unconfirmed.
Post the item to the shipping address on the “Transaction Details” page. If the item is delivered in person or if the Payment Recipient posts the item to a different address (for example, if the buyer asks that you send to another address on the basis that it is a “work address” or a “gift” address) then you will not be eligible for re-imbursement under the terms of the programme.
You may access the “Transactions Details” page by logging into your PayPal Account, selecting “History” and then selecting “Details” for the transaction.
Follow the postage requirements described below.
You must accept a single payment from one PayPal Account for the purchase.
Respond to PayPal’s requests for documentation and other information that is reasonably required by PayPal to investigate the matter in a timely manner.
Your primary residence, as listed in your PayPal Account, must be in the United Kingdom and/or Ireland (however, different levels of protection apply for each region, please see section 11.2 above).House saving Targets:

I do have proof of postage as I have a signed receipt form signed by the collector from TNT.
Paypal haven't asked for this yet - they just wanted the tracking number which I have given them.
I am waiting to see what happens next.0 -

OMG!! I wish I had seen this before I was stupid enough to send off the item - which was a PS3 by the way and not a phone as a lot of you surmised. The email that the other posters had received from their buyers is IDENTICAL to the one I received and my buyer was in the Birmingham area.
So it looks like a nationwide scam and who knows how many sellers have been affected? Only a handful of people have posted about it on here but there must be many more that have been duped into sending off PS3s to buyers with zero feedback - surely this is something that Ebay should be made aware of?0 -
This is the email I received from my buyer:
hi just paid by paypal. when can i expect it to arrive? dont forget to send it recorded for our security. this is high value item and i dont want to lose it. please do not include any invoice as it is a bday present
On the face of it, it looks like the buyer is being nice and helpful suggesting that it is sent "recorded" as they don't want to lose it and that it is a birthday present.
Unfortunately, I now know different!
It would be very interesting to see how many other sellers have been caught out with this!

Well my transaction went perfectly - I did my homework on the buyer but still wasn't overly convinced - it only became more suspicious to me when it became clear that others had received exactly the same message word for word under the same circumstances for the same item - Maybe I was just lucky
Hope you get your money back0
