Buyer with Zero feedback

I'll bet a few earlier contributors to this thread are feeling a bit sheepish now.0

Only the offensive ones. The advice to send tracked was sound. The seller will be fine if the tracking is in order.0

gosh what a horrible saga for you o/p. sounds like rotten luck on yr part. i hope you get it resolved ok via pp.0

Just waiting to hear back from Paypal - I don't suppose they're in any rush!
Blooming annoying though - it took 3 weeks for them to do the chargeback.
I hope it gets settled before Xmas.0 -

What should they have said?
"Oh no, don't send to buyers with no feedback. They're all scammers!!!"?0 -
Well my transaction went perfectly - I did my homework on the buyer but still wasn't overly convinced - it only became more suspicious to me when it became clear that others had received exactly the same message word for word under the same circumstances for the same item - Maybe I was just lucky
Hope you get your money back
Hi - when you said you did your homework on the buyer, what exactly did you do/what checks did you make? Because basically that was my original question when I started this thread and although I got a couple of helpful responses such as 192.com and Google streetview it soon got lost in the whole "How dare I think someone with zero feedback is a scammer" argument (oh the irony!).
It would be useful to know what you can do in the circumstances to protect yourself from being scammed - in my case if only I had seen that previous thread on here about the PS3 scam I would have not proceeded with the sale. I should have done a more thorough search - my own stupidity!0 -

What you should have done is what you did. There's no way to spot a scammer until it happens. In this instance, it's a bit inconvenient but your money is safe.0

I have sold 3 ps3 over the last few months, each of those first sold to a 0 feedback account set up that very day, each of those accounts immediately sent"hi just paid by paypal. when can i expect it to arrive? dont forget to send it recorded for our security. this is high value item and i dont want to lose it. please do not include any invoice as it is a bday present "
When I read that message I posted on the forum asking did anybody think it was a scam, and was directed to two identical threads with the same messages. The 3 addresses I sold to were all different, Wales Scotland and England, so its not the same person at each house. I made up my mind immediately that I wasnt sending out the Ps3. Its a scam, its impossible to get a word for word message from two different people 4 months apart. Then a few hours later I got a message from ebay sayingYou have received a payment that we believe may not have been authorised by
the PayPal account holder. Here are the details of the transaction we are
investigating.
The second one I sold (4 months later) I got the exact same message, immediately contacted Paypal by phone, told them it was a scam explained what happened last time. They didn't care said payment looks ok and to contact eBay if I thought it was a scam. Contacted eBay, they told me I was obliged to send out the item, even though I told them it was 100% a scam and even directed them to a year old thread on their message boards with the exact same word for word message for a sold PS3. Again I was told I was obliged to send it out . So I posted it with Parcelforce. 18 days later I recieved a message from eBay sayingUnfortunately, we had to cancel bids and purchases for the following buyer because they're no longer registered on eBay:
XXXXXX
In these types of situations, we'll credit the final value fee for removed listings won by this buyer, and also the insertion fee if it was a single-quantity listing.
We also recommend you take the following actions:
-- If you haven't received payment, don't complete the sale or send the item to the buyer.
-- Don't communicate with the buyer directly.
-- Verify any payments you've been notified of by logging in to your PayPal account (or other online payment service).
-- If the buyer requests refunds or additional payments, don't send any money without contacting eBay first.
-- If you've already sent the item, try contacting the shipping carrier to find out if you can stop shipment.
I have heard nothing else, I dont know what they will do with the payment. I still have it, but I have also sent out the item. I do have proof of course but I'm afraid to even spend the money as I'm afraid they will freeze and Investigate making a negative balance and messing me up for Xmas.
And I listed a 3rd PS3 two days ago it sold, and guess what message I got. So I don't know what to do with that one:A0
