Buyer with Zero feedback

If it were me OP and I was a new ebayer and bought something on a bin, paid immediately expecting to receive said item quickly and then you delayed sending it because "it sold quicker than I expected" after you had checked me out on Google and looked at where I lived so you could decide if I was "worthy" to buy the item from you................ you would have 1 big fat NEG coming your way from me, I wish there was a way I could find the buyer for this item I would love to send them an email!
GET OVER YOURSELF AND SEND THE ITEM THE BUYER HAS PAID FOR!!!!!!!
And again would you share your Ebay ID with us all? I am sure I am not the only one who would love to add you to my blocked bidders list!
Some people, never ceases to amaze me the numpties that are selling on Ebay!"You can measure a man's character by the choices he makes under pressure"Sir Winston Churchill0 -

If yours is the only phone they have won then there may not be too much to worry about, but if they have bought a few expensive "scammable" items, then I would definately be a bit wary.
That only applies if they have not paid and were sending emails saying they had done so or to ship to Nigeria - buyer in this case has done so."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4

I have been an ebayer for the last 10 years and have 100% 1000+ feedback. I have a confirmed Paypal identity as well. If I were to buy an item through ebay, the seller could immediately see from my feedback that I was a reliable buyer, that I always paid promptly and that I have never had any disputed sales or purchases and have never negged anyone. They would therefore be able to proceed with a reasonable amount of confidence that their sale would go through with no problems, and they would be right.
So do please tell me how I can do the same when my buyer has zero feedback, only joined ebay on the same day that he purchased my item and the only information I have is his name, address and a mobile tel number. His Paypal identity is unconfirmed as well. Oh, and I checked on 192.com and no-one of his name is at the address given.
£200 is a lot of money for me and I only wanted to try to safeguard the payment IF the buyer turns out to be a scammer. I have had a lot of useful replies which have been very helpful and for which I am grateful.
Having had the misfortune to have been scammed once already on ebay (only lost £10) I do not want it to happen again hence asking for any advice.
Anyway, I have to assume that everything is genuine so I have packed up the item and booked the courier for Wednesday so we shall see what develops.0 -
£200 is a lot of money for a buyer as well.
If you've ever bought and sold anywhere else you will know that people sell items of that sort of value everywhere else without needing to know the references or history of the person purchasing.
Please take this seriously - if you are not happy selling an item to the general public and want to pick and choose your buyers, don't bother listing something on eBay. You won't get a good price if you don't open yourself up to that sort of risk.
Everyone has to start somewhere, and moreover, feedback is totally irrelevant to most transactions. The buyer paid you - so you have to send.
Think of how you would feel in this situation as the buyer, paying over £200 to someone then getting a lot of aggro about who you were, where you lived, what you had bought before and so on. Would you be happy dealing with that seller? Imagine yourself in an ordinary shop buying an ordinary item of that value - would you be happy to be asked for utility bills, passport, proof of identity etc? Most people, so long as they get paid, happily sell all sorts of expensive items with no problems to people they don't know.
Perhaps not. So...trust the buyer, send the item properly tracked and insured, and stop making excuses.
Then stop selling expensive items on eBay - because if you can't trust your buyers, why should they trust you?"Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4

It is also possible to find potential scammers this way even if they have paid.
They have have managed to hack into someones paypal account, and are using this to make the purchases.
Irrespective of having paid, if they have purchased loads of expensive items, I would be very wary of sending the phone.
I know that the OP will eventually get their money if it is a dodgy buyer, but if the buyers account shows suspicious buying activity, why risk it?0 -

How did you get from "My item" to "Phone they have won"?This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !0 -
I have sometimes seen sellers saying 'if you have less than x number of feedback please contact me before bidding' which kind of suggests there is more of a risk to the seller if the buyer has zero or low feedback. That said, everyone's got to start somewhere!
If someone's not on 192.com they could just be ex-directory.
I know it's a bit late in this particular case but maybe in future there is a way of blocking bidders with low or no feedback score?0 -

Yes, I wondered that as well! I have not said it was a phone! But it is a high end electrical item.
It's all packed up and now awaiting collection by the courier on Wednesday and I've shelled out for full insurance as well (at my own cost)
Hoping for a good outcome and thanks for all the advice.0 -

You can block zero feedback users as long as you also opt for the clause 'who have no card registered with ebay'.
