Back for a bit, house tidy, laundry drying on the radiators ( why's it so cold again?) BM brewing what will hopefully be hot cross buns - I know it's after the event but I didn't see folks at Easter plus I'm too lazy tonight to do cakes. Had some tea while pretending it was pie and chips (mmmmm, that'll appear in next weeks meal plan!). Put a colour on my hair (also an experiment, eek!) which is due off.. about NOW..
Probably pop back later if everyone's not loafing in their baths!

Well done tracey, you have every right to feel proud. Doing something you don't do usually is always daunting. My DP used to always get DS2 dressed ready for swimming and dried/dressed when they came out, when he started working the night they usually go I was shaking like a leaf the first time I had to get both boys ready together. Something I did every day at home, just felt completely out of my comfort zone!

Well done more in the kitchen but not a lot, kids still up unfortunately. They both were not hungry earlier and I just did them a snack which they didn't finish. Now at bed time they are hungry so oven is now on. Going to be a late one I think.

Solway hope your hair turns out ok, I had highlights in mine yesterday and when I got up this morning I'd forgot and was a bit of a shock when I first looked in the mirror :rotfl: Cold, got to agree, poured down here most of the day! Need to put a wash load onto airers myself when it's finished.
One day I might be more organised...........

Hope everyone is enjoying their baths/wine/nibbles and chill out time this evening.

 Thanks to all for encouraging words today concerning our rubbish news. Feel a bit better this evening, had lots of hugs with DS which always does the trick. DH had already arrnaged to go out with friends after work which worked out well for him to go out and unwind as I think he was even more fed up than me!

mara- did your DS's Power Rangers suit result in him giving you super hero flying assistance?!
emb- hope you are enjoying your movies
LJ- good luck with the getting the trampoline sorted this weekend, we love ours
scaredy- hope DD is feeling much better
emmie- we had a much easier time of things when we adopted DS, maybe we were spoilt with that first time round. I do know what you mean and once we get that 'one' call it'll make everything else pale into insignificance.
lil_me- wow your kitchen sounds like it's getting a whole new look, you've done so much
poohbear-sorry to hear your dad is poorly.

Have a great weekend everyone, not sure what we are up to yet. Maybe moving a huge pile of unwanted gravel from our friends home to ours where we do want it. Oh the glamour!

  • after starting a cleaner 3 weeks ago thinking it was going to make my life easier I've come to the conclusion after reading the to-do list 15 pages ago that if i can get everyone in the house to help for 10 mins a day just to either hoover, put the washing in or even just tidy up after themselves I don't need to waste money by getting that woman in apart from that i'm fed up of her dusting round things....... i can't move a photo at the minute as there's 4 weeks dust under it! so on monday we'll start but the weekend will be spent finding a home for everything that's out on the sides :)
  • I don't believe it DOH has only gone and studied in the bedroom two nights in a row! I did manage to put away all my summer clothes though - two skirts to every hanger, hmmm.

Tomorrow DOH is at college so me and DS are going to have a go at his bedroom and i'm going to let him choose some bedding to buy to make him like his big bed a bit more! Gonna have to be careful to only go into shops I can afford. I seem to remember Thomas the Tank duvet sets in Debenhams being about £20! eek!

    Evening everyone.

Just chilling out a bit by catching up on the thread. I certainly need it tonight.

tinselfairy sorry to hear your news. I would feel really down too, but at least you can cuddle up to one child already, and it will happen for you at some stage.

lil-me your kitchen sounds fab. I am dead jealous as i really want an american fridge freezer as my parents have one. My friend has just moved house, and they got one as part of the deal. I've no room in my kitchen really, although perhaps with some very careful planning.

nicki ouch. Your accident sounded painful. I think you are only meant to fill the kettle to a maximum of 1/3 full when doing that.

My news isn't good. My aunt had a really bad night, so my mum, dad and sister were phoned at 1:30 and spent all night and most of today at the hospital. They were just heading back when i left their house, and i am waiting for a phonecall. She has been moved to intensive care, and put under heavy sedation. She is on life support for her breathing, and her kidneys have stopped working so she is having dialysis. She has now developed septicaemia as well, and it is basically being taken one hour to the next as to if she will make it through. Her being so overweight is really making it bad. She is only in her 40s, and it is heartbreaking, particularly for my dad and grandad. The biggest problem is she is quite a depressed person, and has told them not to treat her, so she has lost the will to fight it off herself, and it is bringing back horrible memories of the 5 weeks my dad spent in intensive care after he had the accident that left him in a wheelchair. Absolutely horrible

I'm just trying to keep busy. I got one load of washing on here before i went to mums, then popped to the shop to get them bread and milk to keep them going, then basically have kept one sister company all day while we have watched all the kids. We did some cleaning too to keep our minds off it. I haven't even made it to the hospital yet as i can only really leave Charlie with DH, and my folks were basically sat in a waiting room for most of the day while she was being worked on.

I don't even know what will be happening in the next hour. Would love a glass of wine, but wouldn't dare in case i am needed. Will have to go to the hospital tomorrow, but will also probably leave DH a list of flying to do if i need to go out. Probably changing the beds and flicking the hoover round.

He was a star tonight and made a roast dinner. Don't know where i'd be without him.

Anyway, enough whining. Thanks for listening to me, and being there with your support as always.

    Michelle, x

Charliesmam welcome. There is a lot who visit or post on Flylady who have used cleaners in the past, I hope you manage to save yourself money by doing it yourself and the family pitch in. Not good when you are paying for a service and don't get what you expect.

Tinsel the new look of the kitchen isn't as much as I would like. I had it all planned to decorate before it arrived as the date we were told it would arrive by was 9th of May. Thing is they called DP to tell him it'd be delivered next Monday. No time to decorate so just having to make do and make room. The making room is proving the hardest bit as I'm a horder :o but I am improving and throwing thngs out. Michelle it's taking some planning but I had underbench ones before this. Good thing is I will have enough room to open the oven completely, haven't been able to since I got this one. Taking a bit of getting used to, opened it tonight and only took it to where I have been able to in the past :o forgot.

Did some more in there earlier. Have collapsed to watch wifeswap which is actually quite interesting tonight, then ExtremeMakeOver Home Edition is on from 10pm which I always watch, can't see me getting much more tonight. Might force myself to get up and do something when the adverts are on.

Michelle, sorry to hear your aunt is no better, everything crossed for her, hope she finds the fight inside to get through this, thinking of you and your family at this really difficult time.

    Hi All,
Just wanted to say thank you to all for this thread as for the first time (ever?) tonight this weekend I'm going into with (apart from the monster jenga cupboard under the stairs) NO cleaning at all to do (plus the 'Sunflowers' smell had gone this morning).

The old house looks like I've paid someone to clean it during the week. OK its been tough but worth it.

Must say though I think I've got it easy in comparrison to most of you, i.e. no kids, no OH (just me & the dog) and no downstairs loo. I don't know how most of you cope I raise my glass of Vin Rouge to you.

    Thanks again.
    Basil xxx

    Todos for the Weekend;
    Sort out THE cupboard.
    Iron something.

((((((( BIG HUGS))))))) Michelle, sorry to hear your aunt is so unwell.
