Thanks for that. I kinda thought it was safe to ignore it, but I just wanted to note a similar case to mine to be sure I could do that. The last thing I would want is bailiffs arriving and/or any damage to my perfect credit rating. But I've noted this couldn't affect ones credit rating.

Bailliffs won't arrive either. Not unless you lose a court case that won't happen and refuse to hand over cash that you won't be ordered to hand over.
  • Thank goodness for this web site!! I got the same notice as Steve a couple of posts above from CPplus, when I over stayed by half an hour at Magor services. I'm surprised Roadchef want to be involved in this shoddy business, they have certainly lost my custom from now on thats for sure. I'll make sure the fleet I run avoid all Roadchefs on principal.

It's bad for sure. Did you pay up?

I didn't see the signage due to the fact that I didn't get out of the car. Had I known there was a restriction on the time allowed, then I'd have left earlier.

There's a real problem here in the UK with the roads being booby-trapped with cameras and other money generating devices. It actually makes you nervous about driving almost.

Well, I was going too....:D I was on the CPplus web site about to pay but was nervous about giving them my debit card details so I Googled CPplus to see what came up and was directed to this thread and your post!

If you read through the last few pages its all quite reassuring, (thanks everyone!) CPplus are just trying it on. The only downside is I expect we will both receive demands for money for the next 50 years. :rotfl:

Oh Lord, just out of bed after 5 days feeling lousy with flu and what greets me is a letter from CPplus. I parked in Lymm services for longer than the allowed free period of 2 hours, ie an extra half hour and now they want £50 if I pay within 14 days or £90 if I don't. There's a pic attached of me driving in and out. Apparently I could have paid the extra and avoided this. I didn't realise there was any restriction at all there. I'm sure there will be signage and they've sent a pic of the signage. I didn't get out of the car at the time. I simply drove in there and nodded off!

    Is it legit?

All the landowner can sue you for is the amount it costs to park for 2 to 24 hours, which is normally between £5 and £7.

The agent can not sue you for anything as they never suffered the losses.

If I ever get in power, first thing would be to axe charging for motorway service car-parks, they are unneeded and cause hazards

I think we are the only country in Europe that charges to park in motorway service areas. When you think about it, they are just glorified lay-bys. You don't have to pay to park in them.
