loggers wrote:I wrote to Barclaycard to claim back a late payment fee of £20 from 2004 and they wrote back saying that they wouldn't refund me the charge as it was my fault as I had made the payment late.
Do I need to accept that I will not be seeing that £20?

Can you reclaim Credit Card charges as you can with the bank ???????
I had a nasty incident with an ex, who decided to take two of my CCs back in 2002/3 and run up a massive debt just before she left me, she basically made herself aware of my PIN numbers and took the cash outta the hole in the wall.....about £5000.....paid it all back, but I got murdered with charges, wouldn't mind getting those back....
Yes you can claim back on your credit cards. Just change the wording in the letter to the fact that you are claiming back late payment fees or similar.0 -
I'm sorry if the answer to this could be elsewhere on the MSE site. I've looked but can't find! I had a credit card from Barclaycard / Capital One. November 2001 was when the card started. I spent money I wasn't able to pay back and ran up lots of charges on the account (late payments, no payments etc) before Barclaycard sold the debt on. (I am still repaying and owe approx £1660). If I get my old credit card statements can I reclaim the charges or does it only apply to banks/building societies?0

Hello, I know this isn't the place really to ask this ( if anyone can tell me where I should be looking then I'll go there). Can I reclaim charges from a credit card company? I foolishly took out a CapitalOne Barclaycard in 2001 and by 2003 it had been sold on to a debt collector. I'm still paying it off now. Any advice would be much appreciated.
p.s waiting to hear from HALIFAX PLC. wrote ,using MSE template, 2nd letter requesting my money back.0 -
Yes you can claim using the template letter, just alter the wording to say you are claiming late payment charges or however your c/c terms their charges.0

Hi
I have a credit card with Halifax. I had a credit limit of £1200 but because I was young and irresponsible I managed to rack it up to £1500 and couldnt afford to make payments. It has since sored to over £2600.
I'm now in a possition where I can start making some repayments.
However before I do I would like to know if it is possible to have them remove all the charges that they have applied?
I have seen the article on bank charges but am unsure if the same rules apply to credit cards. I am also confused over the interest and weather or not that can be reclaimed.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
