Hi All - Firstly I just wanted to say a quick Thanks to all the contributors on this site, whose help and advice have really spurred me into action...The time people dedicate to helping on here is really encouraging, so Thanks to one and all.

    Now, onto business!

Whilst at university I foolishly took out a Burton Store Card. As a broke student I used the card to withdraw cash, and quickly fell into arrears. To cut a lon story short, I ended up having a CCj against me as a result of my failure to pay back what was owed.

The CCJ has now been paid off and removed from my record, but I am sure there will have been huge charges that i will have paid out on, and I am keen to reclaim these if at all possible - so My questions are as follows -

Am I entitled to make any claim for charges made on the account, having had a CCJ against me?

If I can make claim, who will it be against? who is responsible for the Burton Store Card? is it GE Capital?

If so, does anyone have the phone number or address where I can contact them to try and retrieve my account details - I have no documentation detailing my account at all...

I know it's a bit of a shot in the dark - bu it has got to be worth a go.

Any help or advice greatfully received.

    Cheers,
    Mike

Thank you all for your replies.
New to this today, so hope I am completing everything correctly, and still trying to navigate around all the different areas!
The claim would be for a D.P Store card, which I paid off last year, but only from the help of family member. Due to the fact that late payment chgs (added only a few days after due date) kept being added and making it impossible for me to repay. I suppose this would not matter..

No this doesn't matter, if there is no balance owing on the card any monies you reclaim back will be made in the form of a cheque to you instead of crediting the account against any monies owed :D

Good luck with your claim :j let us know how you get on

Would it make any difference, that I no longer have a record of my card/account number, and would anyone have the address of where to write to?

I have a river island store card, and I am sure that I have been charged in the past. I called them to ask for my statements, and they told me that they could get them for me no proble, at a cost of £10 per statment!!!!!!
Has anybody else has any dealings with them?
