I've been through the steps. Put the new inverter board in. Not screwed it back in yet (do I need to?) to test it and it's still dull. So I guess it has to be the backlight?

you must have known, I was just wondering what happened.

Sorry it didn't work and wasted a few pounds!

If all the screen/power leads are firmly connected and not damaged, and you have been sent a new inverter, then it's more than likely the backlight, around the same price (but I could only find ones from america on ebay), if you wanted to risk it - bit more fiddly to change.

It's not wasted. I can send it back for a refund which is fine.

I think it's going to be quite costly ordering from America? Is there anywhere in the UK that will sell it at a good price?

Couldnt find any uk suppliers when I looked the other day, but there probably are some.

As always, can't guarantee it will work, various guides on youtube etc on how to fit.

I might just buy a new laptop, less fiddle. Unless there was a part in the UK.

If I took my laptop to a repair shop and told them it's the backlight, what do I expect to pay?

depends on the shop, ring a few and ask if you don't fancy doing it

at least £30, but could be £50-100

us sourced parts tend to be cheaper.

Will I get taxed? If so, how much? And do you think I can sort the backlight or is that for the pros?
